OMFG! Jon Stewart absolutely skewers CNBC's Jim Cramer before he stomps him with The F Bomb!
Edited on Mon Mar-09-09 10:24 PM by zulchzulu

In case you missed it on tonight's installment, Jon exposes Cramer about his Bear Stearns whoring before he wamps him the the Ol' F-eroo!

A video should be forthcoming.

Apparently the hub-bub came about when Stewart was talking about the mamby pamby whiners on CNBC and Cramer responded how he was misrepresented on how he pimped Bear Stearns.

Jon shows various videos where Cramer indeed was pimping Bear Stearns literally days before it completely was squashed. Who knows how many people lost lots of money from the genius that CNBC says "In Cramer We Trust". And if you've been watching CNBC recently, they are trashing Obama for not arriving with gold-enlaced bags of cash and a couple hookers.

A MUST-SEE! You will literally out-loud laugh 'til it hurts.

While a link becomes available, here's Jon's first takedown on CNBC:

Edited on Mon Mar-09-09 10:50 PM by CoffeeCat
CNBC has become an incestuous toxic soup where Wall Street players and the finance talking heads meet to bang each other.

I'm sorry to put such a fine point on it--but it's true.

That network is nothing but a load of bullshit.

Wall Street uses CNBC to get their messaging out--and to perpetuate lies about their companies--to make their stock rise.

CNBC needs the interviews with the Wall Street big wigs. So CNBC can't ask tough questions or tell the truth. They just
book the interviews and shut up while these liars spew their slogans and sound bytes.

CNBC is a broadcast public-relations romper room for Wall Street.

It is a laughing stock.

Anybody catch Cramer on Morning Joe today? I came upon it in the middle, but it appeared the Joe was totally mental, going after Jon Stewart for going after poor widdle Cramer. From what I could see in the brief moments I watched, most of the other minions looked almost embarassed, although I may have read them wrong. It was hilarious, though. Jon Stewart is reaching the younger generations of voters and there ain't NOTHING Joe can do about it, so I think it's driving him even further into the wilderness. I LOVE it!

25. Actually, Cramer has always said he messed up with Bear Stearns
Cramer is a liberal through and through. Just because he disagrees with Obama on WHEN he should implement our policies, he IS being mis-represented by Stewart. I have always watched Cramer, and he HAS been mis-represented. First, Stewart played edited clips that were not accurate and Cramer addressed them yesterday on his web-site (incidently, in the same article, he AGAIN took credit for missing the boat on Bear Stearns). For whatever reason, Stewart has shifted his tactic and is now taking this route as he can claim "well it IS true."

I am a huge fan of Stewart, but do not like him jumping on one of our own based on lies. Cramer is a good ally and supports almost all of Obama's spending initiatives. He simply thinks we should wait until the economy turns a corner before implementing them. While I disagree with him, I certainly do not think it should elicit the crap he has had thrown at him from his own side.

Cramer never ever said he messed up with Bear Stearns. He DID lie about what he originally meant as his advice on Bear Stearns. He backpeddles now that he was talking about being able to withdraw funds from BS accounts... which is a stretch when it comes to evidence to the contrary.

Is Cramer a liberal? How? Even if he is, he's still a sniveling liar that can't admit he seriously fucked up.

48. I am not sure he apologized exactly
At first he offered that his sound bites were out of context. Stewart responded by showing the clips with more context.

Also, how can ANYONE take Cramer seriously about ANYTHING when he bends over backwards to give a hummer to Rush Limbaugh/Sean Hannity and Fox news in his "apology".

Even if he is a good liberal, he is not immune to his own stupidity.

I hope no one forgets that REAL people have been gravely harmed because CNBC has allowed their coverage to be nothing more than PR, LIES and propaganda in the service of Wall Street. They see their viewers as grist for the mill.

37. What did you think of Cramer's response on Morning Joe?
Cramer said I was wrong in a bear market. He's a comedian. He spoofed me. I get it. I've apologized more than any other for steering people wrong.

It went on.

Joe Scarsborough tried to take the opportunity to denigrate Jon Stewart and use language that could just as easily be applied to his ongoing commentary about Obama. If he wants to make the same difference, he also could step into the arena.

I find criticism hard to take when I think it is coming from a bad place, but this Joe guy is unbelievable. Does he ever accept being singled out for criticism without a rejoinder? In the worst of times, I have just bowed my head and said I was wrong. Does he ever do that?

47. Stewart vs CNBCs Cramer
It didn't hit me until the end of the first show about CNBC. Yes it was a shot across the bow of Santelli & the other conservative commentators but most of all it was an attempt to tone down Cramer's rhetoric. He has been blaming Obama for loss of wealth (in 401Ks etc) of the average Joe (six figure) all that week. Cramer is lucky that he made his money when it was easy back in the late 80s & 90s. The sweet spot of baby boomer demographics & financial industry ad campaigns. Now that many nasty chickens are coming home to roost (some of which were hatched in that era), the Stock Pickin' Chicken will probably do better than Cramer. I dvr & watch daily all the shows that Jon skewered. It tickled me to see CNBC give Carl Q (the recipient of the 1st F-bomb) some time off to review his college course notes about in-depth financial journalism. Let's face it, when TV journalism found itself needing to put up serious ratings/ad dollars to be profitable, objectivity & credible reporting took a back seat. That is why we love Jon. Though he isn't always perfectly fair, he brings out so much truth about what is going on in the country. Warren Buffet & Cramer, I believe, are correct about one thing, though. The administration has to focus on the key issues. Straightening out the banks & arresting the job losses. We can't afford the social goodies if the tax dollars aren't flowing. We are in survival mode. Down the road when things are more stable we can improve social programs. It also pays to understand that the repeal of the Glass-Steagall Act in the late 90s & the decision not to properly regulate derivatives (after the Long Term Capital debacle of 98) have a lot to do with our problems today. Wall Streets influence on both Dems & Republicans back then (campaign contributions, etc.) made it difficult for them to fight for what was best for the long term health financial system. Someone needs to put together a time line of events & those who perpetrated them (i.e. SECs allowing 40:1 leverage of Investment Banks, repeal of uptick rule, the effects of mark to market, naked shorting, Glass-Steagall etc). For those individuals & hedge funds who understood (or influenced) the correlation of these events over the last few years, its been like taking candy from a baby.

55. No it isn't "Hold all/most social spending"
You keyed right in on that. The general sense I get from a few on the financial shows whom I perceive as reasonable is that 1) Straighten out the bad banks like during the S & L crisis (take over temporarily, dump the bad management, sell off the bad assets & return the bank into the private sector). 2) Dedicate the $800B stimulus pkg to preparing for future via infrastructure, education & industries that get us off oil but avoid wasteful pet projects 3) Beef up unemployment bennies since we are losing 500,000k+ jobs/month lately until we can get thru this mess. I said that "the rich" or people/institutions (who understand the financial system) have just taken us for large sums of money over the last few years & for the most part, legally. However, as you go thru life you find out that healthy banks are important institutions in creating jobs. They lend money to small biz owners who hire poor people. Some of our largest banks are unhealthy because of the reasons I stated. Simply put, the politicians / regulators (both Dem & Rep) have allowed the financial system to be put at risk by changes in laws & lack of regulation. It has to be fixed. If you don't follow the financial & political news carefully or if you are not a business owner, some of the things that I wrote won't make sense. I voted for the Dems for the first time in 2004 because of the war in Iraq (big $$ give away to FOB/FOC). I voted for Obama because I think he will take us in the right direction. You know, where government looks out for the interests of the little guy. But since September, the financial system has broken down & is now leading to mass unemployment. If we don't get the basics fixed first, there will be no money for the new social programs (let alone the old ones). During the last 30 years the country went from pro-labor/citizen (which got somewhat abusive & unfair to companies) to pro-CEO/corporations (which has become tremendously harmful to the working class economically). We need to swing the pendulum back to it's mean position but let's fix the basics first.
