President Obama: Chess Master or Poker Shark?
I've seen alot of crazy ass posts on both sides of the discussion in regards to the President's behavior on going after BushCo. Lack thereof is what's getting alot of people in a tizzy, and I have to include myself am in that crowd. The old American tradition of tarring and feathering Tories came to my mind on election night. But no, we've been getting alot of "let's not look back" attitude, and huge attempts at bipartisanship on his part. All of which have been met by the worst and most base of republican venom. They put their own earmarks in the stimulus bill and then cried socialism when it came time to vote for eff's sake!

Rush freaking Limbaugh has supposedly taken the helm of the republican party....

This seems like the setup for a pretty sweet checkmate to me.

He seems to be bringing out all of their worst attributes to the forefront of the American consciousness. Tight ass buffoons are going on cable screaming "communism", "socialism", "health care is a privilege", and other 3rd grade bully slogans and are expecting people to fall for it. They keep it up, and they will soon join the Whig party because the GOP will fracture like glass. The Sarah Palins and Bobby Jindals will go one way, while the Newts Gingriches and Lindsey Grahams go another, and the Olympia Snowes will become Democrats.

Or is he bluffing? If he IS bluffing, he's not just doing it to the republicans, he's also doing it to us. That also means there is no checkmate.

Just another boring game of cards....

1. I would suggest that we don't underestimate Pres. Obama.....
after all, many did just two years ago, and see what that got them.

I started to believe quite some time ago that almost nothing that
Barack Obama and his team does is by pure accident......not in a long shot.

4. He is shrewd...
... for example, I didn't agree with him about his soft treatment of Lieberman (I can't stand Joementum). However, Obama seems to have been a couple of moves ahead of me, in that he's pretty much got Lieberman in his corner... and his Senate vote is needed right now.

5. Exactly...take the Omnibus Bill for example.

Lots of people are like President Obama shouldn't have let this go to the House and Senate, it's full of earmarks and porkulus (I love that term...stupid GOP). Anyway it had all these things and people couldn't grasp why President Obama did that from pundits on the media, Tweety in particular was overly vocal on the matter, and a lot of Les Petite Poulets on this site.

But when I thought about it..The Repubs got crazy attention for having crazy earmarks on this bill. They were the top 3 of the Top and the Top 6 of the Top 10 Senators who were on this bill. Many of whom were notorious and I mean ridiculously vocal for what they call "fiscal responsibility." The economy was cratering and they were asking for Billions worth of Dollars. This was discussed by Dem after Dem in the Senate, a few Repubs, and this was all over the news.

Some would think this is no big deal...but think about it. These were the people hypocritically talking about fiscal responsibility. These are the idiots who voted 'no' unanimously against the Bail Out of American citizens. These are the loud mouthed idiots who quoted every single spending measure a "pork barrel" element, or what they deemed earmark/pork barrel, in the stimulus bill. Yet, they were all called on the floor and the media for having a list of earmark after earmark after earmark.

So they appeared even more so hypocritical than they were before. I was in shock. President Obama played them for fools and they didn't even know that. Even idiots here didn't realize that President Obama was playing all of them as idiots and no one got it. Pundits didn't get it, many on this board didn't get it. I found it in the end genius.

He was like you wanted to fuck me on the Stimulus Bill...the Omnibus Bill was my trump card and you all got your come uppance.

2. And the Green Party will become the 2nd Party
If they would hurry up and launch a comprehensive health care campaign that contrasts from the Democrats without making average Americans believe they have to march in the streets to join.

3. Maybe he's just settin' on the porch, playing checkers....
And he's going to do one of those swell moves that involve jumping a bunch of checkers with a "KING ME!" at the end!

6. I'm with you but everytime I think he's fucked it up, he's actually fucked them up
So, I will sit a bit longer and watch the game. See if it's as good as the game President Obama usually gives. He's earned a bit of street cred with me.
