It's being covered on MSNBC, C-Span 3, and CNN here: http://www.cnn.com/video/flashLive/live.html?stream=stream1

He just gave a speech and was refreshingly honest.

them, saying he assumes there are some in the room that make more than $250K (and some laughed). The first person (business owner) said there's a misconception that there's trouble between business and the Obama admin., but nothing could be further from the truth.

Next he was talking about incentives to keep jobs here.

4. I'm enjoying how Pres Obama addressed the issue of him taking on too much.
He says it's all (education, health care) related to getting the economy healty and has to be done.
He's not neglecting the economy to take care of those issues.

9. I love when he addresses things the media constantly "asks" on their shows...
He seems to love talking with people who may not always agree with him-he's Bizarro Bush.

12. Yup...
even though he's done this type of thing, answering questions from unscreened (and sometimes not his natural allies) audiences, often.

7. Amazing. He's taking unscreened questions and talking
honestly (i.e., yes, some people in that room will see a tax increase after 2010).

It's so refeshing to have a President talking like an adult and assuming his audience are adults too. No sound bites, no bumper stickers slogans.

10. Yes. And I'm glad. I have wanted him to do this more.
He has to have public interactions with the business community. He has to get them on board with his efforts.

I believe the markets are primed for some leadership right now. I felt that 6500 on the DOW was undervalued by 10%, and today's close suggests that might be right. A little confidence is what the market needs right now.

13. Yes, and it's so refreshing to see a president
answering questions and having intelligent conversation, and in the public eye to boot! I was just as impressed when he did the same thing concerning health care the other day. Obama never ceases to impress me!

15. Object in Chief of varying assessments.......
LOL!

Talking about Wall Street aka CNBC and rest of media making our President responsible for stock market movement!

Reminds me of Daily Show with DOW ticker running across Obama's face; Stewart said, now there, why not just do that?

16. Very impressive! TPM has a must see clip where he confronts the "Obama-too-busy' meme.
Edited on Thu Mar-12-09 04:41 PM by flpoljunkie
Obama directly confronts the "Obama-too-busy" meme (as chronicled by our Matt Cooper) in his speech this afternoon to the Business Roundtable:

17. The Business Round-table: These are the CEOs responsible for sending our jobs offshore.
Edited on Thu Mar-12-09 04:53 PM by avaistheone1
I wouldn't trust anyone of those folks at the BR as far as I could throw them.

Didn't one of them speak up and just say to Obama that they did not support Single-Payer Health Care?! Well, surprise, surprise most businesses do!!!!! Most businesses are small businesses. They employ the most people in the U.S., and they create the most jobs. It is more of a burden for small businesses to have to pay for health care for their employees than for large corporations to do so. Obama should have told the guy who said "No" to single-payer to shove it where the sun don't shine. I can see that the Business Round-table must have influenced Obama's decision not to invite single-payer health care advocates to the last week's health care summit.

I think Obama would be wise as well to rethink his position on free trade and globalism as well, Look what these members of the Business Round-table have done to our economy as they take American jobs to countries who will pay the absolute lowest wages. Globalism is another word for corporate greed. If our government is not going to create jobs for Americans than who will? The Business Round-table surely will not. The more this government supports free trade and globalism the deeper the economic hole they are going to dig for this country.
