3. Really you can't
His state goes blue for the first time since 1964 and his answer is to try to obstruct the President. His father must want to slap him...sometimes apples don't fall from the tree...this one rolled down a hill and out of town.

McConnell, Cantor, and Boehner.

10. There is a huge difference
Edited on Thu Mar-12-09 09:19 PM by Juche
Why does every dem have to be a committed progressive? That is why the GOP is destroying itself, they purged all the moderates. Not every state is going to elect a Ted Kennedy in the senate. Evan Bayh is much better than any republican in the senate.

I understand Bayh's point, but I don't agree with it. Nonetheless Bayh is nothing like Cantor or McConnell. His voting record on energy, healthcare, taxes, unions, education, etc is far far to the left of any of them.

13. They are planning on blocking many of President Obama's proposed budget policies on health care,

education, energy, and the environment.

They want less government spending at a time when the government is the only entity that can really spend a lot to help recover the economy.

Why weren't they this fiscally conservative when Bush was POTUS? You know, like vote against all the deficit spending bills the past 8 years or however long they had been Senators?

14. Evan Bayh voted for the stimulus plan
Find me a GOP senator who votes this way on healthcare.

16. True. However, they are now railing against any more government spending.
Edited on Thu Mar-12-09 09:31 PM by 4lbs
So, when a second stimulus bill comes up (and it will, as the President has always said), they just may vote against it.

They've also been using almost the same language that the GOP has been regarding deficits, taxes, and government spending. That's not a good thing.

Some of them joined with the Repukes in slamming the $410 billion Omnibus bill.

9. He makes a good point
Deficit spending could destroy our currency. He is pointing that fact out.

I don't agree that we should cut spending though, as we are in a serious recession and demand is gone. And Obama has called for the end of the war in Iraq, ending $2 trillion in spending, reforming healthcare and energy which will save $4 trillion+ over the next decade, etc while calling for more progressive taxes.

Chances are good Obama's policies will result in 2-3 trillion in new revenue and 3 trillion+ in less gov. spending over the next decade.

But Bayh has a point. Too much deficit spending could be a problem.

20. The bigger point is that why now, at this point in history, when
democrats, if they all get on the bus, can force there program into effect, why would you choose now, to all of sudden grow a backbone? It's a stupid crock of shit, but that's okay. Everything backfires when aimed Obama's way.
