Useful Idiot Michael Steele - He Does Do One Thing For Republicans
What other prominent republican could say the things that he has said and get away with it? Everybody agrees that he's stupid, the left and the right. So despite taking a beating by everyone, he winds up gettig a pass. The thing is though, the so-called "gaffes" that he makes, are things that need to be said by some republicans, but they lack the guts to say them.

Now that Rush Limbaugh has reared his ugly head, the republicans are desperate to look more moderate, sound more moderate, but they want to do it without admitting that they are giving up anything. So they send a useful idiot out there to open things up but maintain plausible deniability.

I thought some time ago, that they would ditch him quick. But now I've changed my mind. I think he's going to be chairman for a while. The fact is, and sad as it is to say, they really need him. LOL They need him to get beat-up by everyone for saying things that they can't say. Otherwise, Rush Limbaugh will scare all the moderates away.

1. No, he's too embarrassing. He's history.
It's only a question if removing him will be more costly than keeping him.

4. How do you mean tar baby?
I looked it up:

Tar Baby is also a name <...> that white people call black children, black girls, as I recall.
At one time, a tar pit was a holy place, at least an important place, because tar was used to build things.
It held together things like Moses' little boat and the pyramids.
For me, the tar baby came to mean the black woman who can hold things together.

- from an interview with Morrison by Karin L. Badt (1995)

I am not aware that it has a positive meaning like Morrison used it in this excerpt. Like jet black, tb.

5. He quit to run for Senator
He even lost the majority AA areas in Maryland by WIDE margins.

Epic Fail.

We now have Sen. Ben Cardin, who is one of the good guys.
