5. Maybe this is why. He probably knew how devastating Stewart could be, especially armed with actual
video of his past statements.

4. That was GREAT! But I gotta give Cramer credit for being there and
taking it. Very few other show hosts would have done that.

7. Do you think Cramer knew how scathing Stewart would be?
Somehow, I don't think he did. I think he thought it would be fun and light and it was the opposite.

10. Yeah, I do.
You think he didn't see all the episodes promoting his appearance? You think he didn't see Stewart do in Carlson? Cramer manned up and took his ass kicking. It doesn't excuse his complicity, but he's just one actor in the farce. John admitted as much. The question is - Did he learn anything? And will his behavior/"reportage" change? I thought Jon's point about who Cramer's show was for - CEO's or 401k holders - was "on the money" and maybe actually made an impact. We'll see...

11. Yes I think he did. Cramer seems like someone who likely watches
TDS often enough to know. Maybe I've just seen way too many idiots on TDS who lied and did everything possible to worm their way out of admitting anything, but I still give Cramer credit for appearing and admitting he was wrong. It's nice to see once in a while.

16. I think he was ordered to fall on his sword
I get the impression that Cramer was sent out by CNBC to take the heat and deflect the criticism to himself and away from the network.

so it's actually somewhat painful to watch.

I didn't realize before I tuned in how absolutely necessary to all of us, to our mental health, this take down would be. Schleps like us who were not playing the market but just contributing regularly to our employee retirement accounts. This was hard-earned money we were going to retire with, eat food with, pay the gas bill with, go to the doctor with when we are old and feeble, and it's blown to smithereens because of all the Cramers out there. People's lives have been wrecked because of this guy and his ilk ... and it was so satisfying to see him squirm.

Thank you Jon Stewart, for speaking for us all.

15. "and his ilk" is my only problem with this
I haven't seen the interview yet, and I'm totally behind the idea of Cramer getting skewered.

I'm just worried that the John Thains and all the really high-up people will get away with their filthy, evil behavior because somebody relatively far down the totem pole like Jim Cramer has been eviscerated on TV and the public's appetite will become sated.

I hope this is just the beginning and not the end... but since John Thain and his ilk don't have the balls to appear on "The Daily Show," I wonder whether Cramer has effectively taken the fall for all of them.

9. I almost felt bad for Cramer
He was so... penitent, so conciliatory, so whining about CEOs lying to him..

That video about him explaining hedge funds was really bad.

12. I did too...it reminded me of a dog getting yelled at that just rolls over onto its back.
But he brought it on himself. He didn't have to make this all about him. He chose to do that.

17. Wonkette: “Devastating” is just not the right word.
“Devastating” is just not the right word. It’s hard to remember the last time a teevee interview left us in such a state of stunned silence. As is often the case, Stewart interrupts his guest way too frequently given the breadth of his questions. But you can’t just cast this aside as some popular fake news comedy show host pulling a stunt for ratings. It’s the most ruthlessly honest, sobering conversation — from both sides — you’re likely to see on any show. Good. And note the lack of shouting.

bunch. I wish it had been Kudlow up there.

21. Kudlow has no redeeming qualities
Cramer at least seems contrite. Cramer and Santelli are entertaining guys, they have their own fun style, and both seemed a little hurt because they were made fun of or criticized. Santelli even said he thought the decaf joke Robert Gibbs made at his expense was funny. I think they were both being babies about the whole situation, but, you know, they aren't nearly the worst of the lot. Now Kudlow, that guy isn't remotely likable.

20. I respect that he took a beating like that
In the end, it truly makes Santelli look cowardly. At least Cramer showed up, and he had to know it was going to be bad. The back and forth this week was brutally one-sided, he had to think he'd get more of the same. Maybe he didn't know the extent of it, but he knew something was coming.
