Biden sees signs economic confidence returning
I love that he was in Arkansas supporting Blanche Lincoln, one of the 'Blue Dogs' forming up in Congress. Maybe she's not a lost cause?

Biden sees signs economic confidence returning
By ANDREW DeMILLO Associated Press Writer

Mar 14th, 2009 | LITTLE ROCK, ARK. -- Vice President Joe Biden said Saturday that he believes there are signs the public's confidence is growing in the Obama administration's ability to tackle the financial crisis.

Biden said that he and the president have no doubt that the country will overcome its economic problems. And he feels the recent uptick in the stock markets is a result of the "Obama factor." He said people are starting to understand President Barack Obama has a plan.

Biden, who was in Little Rock, Ark., on Saturday night to help Sen. Blanche Lincoln kick off her re-election bid, said he believes the administration is on track to overcome the financial crisis.

"There is no doubt in our minds and there is no doubt in the president's mind that in fact we will overcome this. We will climb out of this hole," Biden told The Associated Press in an interview. "It just takes some real perseverance and you've got to have a guy as gutsy as the president who's willing to make some really tough decisions."

Biden said he believes the economy is also beginning to show some signs of hope.

"Consumer confidence is slightly up. The market is slightly up," Biden said. "It'll go down again, but the people are beginning to figure out that the president's got a plan and he believes we can work our way through this."

1. I love that he goes wherever,

2. Paying off investment bankers for speculative derivatures
...is not inspiring hope but just the opposite. Derivatives need to be banned not paid off with taxpayer dollars. The huge amount of tax dollars being sucked out of the economy to pay off crooked financial executives is inspiring despair not hope.

5. Americans are still drinking the kool aid
While Summers and Geitner rob them blind. Hope you can believe in is the perfect smokescreen while 1.7 trillion dissappears from the Treasury and the wars go on.

6. Actually Wall St. has been negative towards them.
There are no easy answers to fixing the mess Bush left behind.

4. Well, if by reliable you mean 100% voting record for Obama so far....
Then I guess she needs to vote not just 100%, but 110%?

and empty beach lots where hotels are supposed to be being built and they now use them for parking Lots directly on the beach!

Who is kidding who here????????

Hotels 3/4 empty during spring break weeks..and none of the crowds we are used to this time of year..it's frightening! ( oh and that makes up the biggest tax income for the state!

10. The slight improvement in consumer retail buying is a good sign.
Unemployment tends to be a lagging indicator, from what I have read, so that is not expected to improve for a couple quarters. But if people are starting to spend more, and the market is improving, it's at least something to be positive about.

12. It's just not Biden. Everyone in the administration is on the same page.
They are trying to change the tone a little, without making false promises.
