Jackie Mason and Dennis Miller
The only self-described "comedians" in the country who are politically right-wing . Which also explains why their brand of "humor" is so lame and unfunny....

Pathetic.

:puke:

1. Right wing "musicians": Toby Keith and The Nuge.
I rest my case.

2. Well, Keith is a little more complex than Nuge.
Nugent is a bonafide right-winger, no doubt about that, but Keith is a long-time conservative Democrat that just so happened to support Bush... pretty much a 9/11 thing.

6. Still, in terms of talent and quality, when you compare it to our side...

You ask me, it's no contest.

14. Hey, we have Napalm Death on the Left's side, too.
Just about every song they do now is an ode to lefty ideals. And dig Shane's hair!

15. I'm not familiar with their work.
It sounds like the sort of thing my college roommate would have been into; some genius stuck us together because he said he liked "Death Metal" and I said I liked The Grateful Dead.

16. LOL...that's not right.
Funny mind you, but not right. :)

ND literally invented the terms "blastbeat" and "grindcore", so that's a good indication of what they sound like. Pretty extreme stuff, but their lyrics are always spot on, and they do all kinds of benefits for cool groups and organizations, mainly in the UK, but it carries over here as well. They cover everything from gender issues to animal rights to worker's unions, not the common death metal lyrical fodder.

As a Dead fan they just might not be up your alley regardless. ;)

17. Yeah, the humor of it wasn't lost on me at the time, either.
I'm pretty eclectic in my musical tastes, and they cover a broad range. Unfortunately- while I can appreciate frenetic guitar shredding as much as anyone- a lot of the stuff he was listening to was hateful in content, at least as far as I could glean from the lyrics and whatnot. This was the mid/late 80s, so shit like ugly homophobia was just rampant in some of those circles. Maybe it's better now.

Truth be told, though, being a Deadhead-- I think my musical proclivities drove him at least as nuts as his drove me.

tobie keith is really a far right nutjob. It's in 2006 after the election he hmm became a Democrat. The dirtbag is a fraud. He has donated to the rnc.

The Dixie Chicks kicked his ass.

11. Yup, you all are right... I read more up on Keith and yup, he's a charlatan.
He's not right nor left (actually he's probably more rightwing than anything) but mainly just goes where the money is.

Maybe not as crazy as Nugent, but crazy none-the-less.

5. Dennis Miller proved to me....
...that sex appeal is on the inside. Way back when he was just being funny on SNL...of course he probably had most of it written for him...I thought he was SO SEXY. Now...I find him totally replusive.

13. Miller doesn't bother me when his comedy is non-political.
Edited on Tue Mar-17-09 11:42 AM by Forkboy
I watched one of his specials from 2005 (I think) and it really wasn't that bad for the first half until he started the political jokes. And those weren't bad just because the Left was the main target, but because it was just lazy thinking on his part all too often. I realize comedy often needs to be simplified, but when dealing with political issues if you simplify to the point of being flat out wrong it rarely works. Without a nugget of truth within the jokes will fall flat, as almost all his political jokes do. I will say he made a joke about Howard Dean that cracked me up, and I love Dean.

Having said all that, I can think of dozens of comedians that are worth listening to before one should choose Miller.

Jackie Mason is just one I never got. I figured I was just missing some key factor that made him funny to others, because I don't think he's ever made me laugh once.

On edit - I should add that when I say Miller doesn't bother me, I mean strictly as a comedian. In any other context I can't find the remote fast enough. :)
