President George Bush receives a bowl of shamrocks from Irish PM Bertie Ahern, March 17, 2008.

And now they're both gone. :bounce:

Although our new guy is as bad as his predecessor :banghead:

Ah well, maybe this time next year things will be better.

A Happy St Patrick's Day DU :-)

1. YUCK! There's the real asshole (on the right) responsible for AIG bailouts,
and a whole lot more.

Guess he's laughing,
while the media is inciting a "populist" Revolt,
all of the sudden.

I swear, I'm living in the twilight zone!

2. Happy St. Patrick's Day from Chicago....
It's not quite the day here yet, but I will be asleep when the change comes.

Although I am a mixed-up American, one quarter of my ancestors hailed from County Mayo.

I am watching a special program on the Irish in Chicago on the local PBS station. And I will be wearing green tomorrow.

6. "When laws can stop the blades of grass from growin' as they grow ...."
Edited on Mon Mar-16-09 10:46 PM by Clio the Leo
When laws can stop the blades of grass from growin' as they grow
And when the leaves in summer-time their color dare not show
Then I will change the color too I wear in my caubeen
But till that day, please God, I'll stick to the Wearin' o' the Green.

And the fact that MY Scotch-Irish behind knows all the words to that song is proof that, given enough time, people CAN eventually come together!!

(and it helps if you throw in some beer)

7. For Jackeens:
A Wish for a Friend

Wishing you a rainbow
For sunlight after showers—
Miles and miles of Irish smiles
For golden happy hours—
Shamrocks at your doorway
For luck and laughter too,
And a host of friends that never ends
Each day your whole life through!
