Did any of us really think that President Obama's victory would make things easier?
The news the past month or so just makes my head hurt. So many of us came out of the November election with elation....we anticipated the departure of BushCheney in January....but we know what the vast majority of politicians are like (many Dem as well as most repub), we sensed the impact of greed in our society, we know how the vast majority of humans resist change, we know that the media is lashed to big business and in the business primarily of entertainment - and we also suspected the overt (and mostly covert) chafing at the election of a black president.

I know all of this - we know all of this - yet each day brings more and more disappointment at the faults of the system laid bare, at the magnitude of President Obama's battle, and of realizing how few true allies (not counting the public, of course - I am referring to the people who can aid or block him) he has.

Maybe it is a good thing - maybe his election is flushing out the true rot in our society, in our government and in our businesses. But it sure isn't a pretty sight.

2. The truth is always a good thing to know.
But there's never a guarantee that it won't be painful. I guess that's why DUers are here.

3. It's amazing how much people believe in the "quick fix" !
Where did people get the idea Obama or anybody else could just go into office and voila, total turnaround?

It's insane. It took us a while to get to this impasse and it's gonna take time to get us out.

I'm not joining the naysayers. I support our president and trust that he is doing all he can to get us out of this.

We've GOT to keep on remembering his words: We're all in this together.

4. You could see the shit heading for the fan over a year ago, if only you looked.
I sometimes wondered if Clinton stumbled on purpose--really, it's a shitty job sometimes on a good run, but whoever got this mess was going to have a massive headache for most of the term.

Bill Clinton went through the same thing--a truncated "honeymoon" because the GOP targeted him immediately.

The good thing is, the GOP is doing the same thing with Obama, but the public isn't buying it. At least not yet.

5. I didn't think it'd make things easier
bit after the experiences of the Clinton administration, I did figure Democrats would ahve learned something.

Instead, the Dems are lined up to stick a knife into Obama's back, just like they did with Clinton.

And those are just the really BIG ones!

It's just that SOME of this stuff is a once in a century problem and takes a little more time. ;)

7. His treatment by the press and Republicans doesn't surprise me, what does flabberghast me though
is the purity patrol on DU calling for this person's head or that person's head in the administration because everything is totally fixed and perfect after 2, count 'em, 2 months.

Dems, sometimes, I don't think know how to be winners. It's not about hero-worshiping. It's about standing behind our President, at least for 6 months to a year, so that he has the support and breathing room to clean up this mess. The man is human for god's sake and there are only so many hours in the day.

So, the only way I thought he would be treated differently than Bill Clinton was how his OWN party treated him as he got to work. This is what disappoints me......

8. The Reps weren't done screwing up this country.
They aren't going to give up their plans for the destruction of the middle class just because they lost this election.
We need to stay vigilant against those who would ruin this country for the sake of money.
