I Bitch a Lot, But Ya Know What...
I love that guy.

Sometimes I bitch about torture. Or rendition. Or warrant-less wiretapping. Sometimes I bitch that Obama should fire people. Sometimes I bitch that Obama does some things like Bush. Or that he isn't making enough progress, or doing the right things, or setting the right priorities. Sometimes I bitch about more war. Sometimes I even bitch about Obama so much that I have to just throw my hands up in exasperation.

But ya know what?

President Obama is the best American President of my lifetime. Hands down. And, yes, I can say that after just 55 days. He is the most real, the most empathic, and the most honest. He is the most capable, and the most like me and my generation.

I marvel that I am witnessing the beginning of what is likely to be one of the most relatively revolutionary periods of political change in my lifetime. It's a very exciting thing. America is a pretty reactionary place these days, and we are extremely lucky to have such a level-headed and thoughtful leader. Obama is a cool dude, no question about it.

But yet I still bitch. And that's OK. Because it's my right - my responsibility - as a citizen to bitch. And if you don't exercise your rights they atrophy. It's a healthy democratic thing to do and I don't plan to stop.

Just remember, it doesn't mean I don't love that guy.

10. Honey, it ALWAYS goes "there" with that one.
Orange juice and coffee fuel some; others don't get the day going until they've hurled accusations of sexism.

I wish you could understand that.

20. Remember: it's much easier to adopt an identity than to develop a personality...
which I suspect is what that poster is all about

6. "if you don't exercise your rights they atrophy"
Well, I have exercised them for 8 years. I'm ready to take a break and see what happens instead of bemoaning every teeny tiny step that is made. I know the m$m does it, but that doesn't mean I have to.

I'm very happy still, with some caveats.

29. You do a better job of excercing your right
to criticize than the M$M does. That's why we need you doing it. :)

9. K&R
but asking for people to be fired after 55 days dealing with the worst economic situation of our lifetimes is ridiculous. But its your right to do it.

13. This is essentially my position, as well
I want Obama to succeed, and so I will cajole him and complain about missteps when he makes them, but at the same time I will cheer him and defend him vehmently when I feel he is being undermined by his political enemies.

17. Careful. You diminish his political capital and ability to get things done if you take it too far..

There's a fine line between bitching and giving comfort to the enemy.

Be CONSTRUCTIVE in your criticism.... not just scattershot bitching.

We should be helping to SHAPE that agenda, and that is what the complaining is about.

If he sucked, I wouldn't even bother. But this guy would actually listen and respond to public feedback.
