Mudflats: Signs pointing towards Palin gearing up for 2012
http://www.themudflats.net/2009/03/19/palin-is-robo-polling-iowa-and-new-hampshire-let-the-games-begin/

I got a few interesting emails yesterday I’d like to share. First, in the morning I had one from a Mudflatter in New Hampshire. Then another one. And another. Then last night I got an email from…..Iowa. All three said just about the same thing:

Hi, AKM!

I wanted to let you know that I just received an interesting phone call. It was an automated poll and it asked the following questions:

1. Do you have a favorable opinion of Sarah Palin?

2. Gov. Palin thinks A, B, C, D & E do you agree with Gov. Palin?

3. Do you feel it is important that Gov. Palin is reelected as Gov. of Alaska?

What do you make of that?

Well, I’ll tell you what I make of that.

The Iowa caucuses, the first presidential contest, dramatically winnow the candidate field. There are a maximum of “three tickets” out of Iowa, which means that since 1972 no candidate has won his party’s presidential nomination who did not finish in the top three in a contested Iowa caucus. And in only one election year, 1988 — when Republican George H.W. Bush and Democrat Michael Dukakis both finished third — did an eventual presidential nominee not finish either first or second in Iowa.

New Hampshire carries even more historical clout. From the Granite State primary, there are just “two tickets.” In fact, from 1952 through 1988, no U.S. president was elected who did not first win the New Hampshire primary. The only two exceptions in the last 56 years were Bill Clinton, who in 1992 finished second to Paul Tsongas, and George W. Bush, who in 2000 was beaten by John McCain.

(more at link... but aren't they wrong about New Hampshire - Obama got elected President and lost the primary there?)

4. I hope Palin does get the nomination
If that happens President Obama will win re-election with a bigger win.

5. Please, let her run!
Palin/Jindal 2012. If this is the best the Republicans can muster, the election's already in the bag.

8. What *signs* are they referring to?

Repeatedly canceling out on speaking engagements? Whining endlessly about the so-called "liberal media"?
 :nopity:

Oh, and good luck to Palin for trying to slough off her (and McCain's) loss as nothing more than a personal vendetta by the so-called "liberal media". Why, THAT should be an *excellent* platform on which to launch her campaign on. "Get back at the Liberal Media!!! Vote for me for POTUS!!!! Puh-leeze!!!!
:eyes:

*What* exactly will be her reasoning for why the GOP should nominate her let alone why the public should dump Obama for HER in 2012? I sure as hell can't understand why she seems so *popular* among certain people (and pundits) anywhere but perhaps in Alaska and I haven't seen any evidence that she is anything but how she presented herself during the campaign, which is to say badly. Furthermore, there's been NO evidence of any kind that I've seen of any kind of miraculous evolution........oops.....I mean, transformation into a political titan like President Obama or even Hillary Clinton. Try though as she might to insinuate it, she is NOT the GOP's "Hillary" and NEVER will be. Heck, she's not even a "John McCain", although that is, admittedly, NOT saying a whole lot.

Of course, all of this is not to say that I don't want to see the GOP crash and burn again in 2012, so maybe she SHOULD run for the nomination.

9. God willing. Seriously, a culture warrior will get slaughtered in 2012.
I am more worried about a "fiscal conservative" (AKA corporate whore) like Gingrich or Romney. They might actually pose a threat.
