"Special Needs People" don't want your sympathy or your self-righteous outrage.
They don't need it and they don't want it.

What they DO want is to be treated like they are people. And that INCLUDES not treating them like they are made of FUCKING GLASS.

So save your belittling PC nonsense and your condescending tears for yourselves. People struggling with special needs are no different than people struggling with any other of life's myriad difficulties. They go on and on because that is all there is to do short of giving up.

7. What "they" don't need is for YOU to assume the role of "their" spokesperson
If you personally identify as a person with a special need then you don't need to be speaking for those who do.

8. lol, well the rest of you sure the heck are acting as their spokesmen, lawyers, mouthpieces
I've personally heard special needs people say they don't mind the word retarded at all in fact, and liked to use it themselves. That's why I say it's the families that mind it, not the people themselves. Of course you can use the word cruelly if you want to and hurt people with it, but you can do that with ANY word.

9. And they ALSO need our money..........
...... Governor Palin.

Gov. Palin said she is only taking dollars tied directly to capital projects and infrastructure investment. She said she won’t accept millions of dollars for education, including Title I money and money for special education, and money for unemployment benefits. The governor said she is leaving any further acceptance of the remaining stimulus dollars up to the legislature.

10. No, but certain DUers NEED their own self-righteous outrage.
They need to constantly bitch and moan and foam at the mouth about SOMETHING, or else they may have to go outside and deal with the real world.

15. If only it were so simple.

You might look into the reality of those with "severe/profound" disabilities and their families.
