I hope Krugman is wrong.
I don't believe he is, however if he's wrong I'll be a very happy person.

I'd rather Krugman be wrong than President Obama. I'd rather be wrong and things work out than right and standing in a bread line. However intellectually I can't see how this plan will work.

I hope I'm wrong.

4. Obama is a smart man. And he reads different opinions and he studies
He's not some ditto head. He's studied these proposals and he believes in this plan over what Krugman or others are proposing. I trust him.

8. all those concerns are for another day
Edited on Mon Mar-23-09 09:28 PM by CTLawGuy
the point of this plan is put money back into the stream of commerce to be lent and borrowed. This is not to help bankers, it is to help the person trying to borrow to buy a house, to buy a car, or to start a business. Right now it is extremely difficult to borrow money. The government, more than any other institution, has the ability to buy these troubled assets and collect the cash over a period of decades, while banks can lend again.

On the other hand, we need new regulations to prevent another subprime crisis. I think that any company that is "too big to fail" is too big to exist and should be broken up. I think we need to have restrictions on who can borrow money. We need to bring back glass stegall. But the systemic problems with the financial industry is not what this plan is dealing with.

9. Right
Its a prop to keep it from all falling down around us.

Once that is done you can bet Obama will work to build a new foundation, and on top of that the next president can frame the house. Yep, it's gonna take some time. But at least we have a builder that is smart and wise, and he wants all America to succeed.
