And is a liberal Republican. Wonder how long she has until Rush goes after her.

2. repukes are self-serving in that way
you know, the way Nancy Reagan supports stem cell research only because of her husbands ill-fortune

3. Maybe she should do some more reading, flip her dad off, and become a Democrat.

4. She said she rebelled in high school. I get where she is coming from as my parents are conservatives
You want to love your parents but disagree with them on many issues. She says she is socially moderate to liberal and fiscally conservative. I think she will stay a Repub and try to bring some sanity to the party. Good luck to her as anyone in that party that tries to move it away from the radical right gets knocked down and ...well called "fat" by Laura Ingraham.

8. I think I'm one of a few select people whose whole family votes Democratic.
Well except for my aunt in Texas, who became a conservative when she left the Catholic Church and joined the Methodist Church.

My great grandma came over from Ireland and was an FDR Democrat. Her sister would write letters to Pres. Roosevelt weekly and I don't think our family ever looked back.

Though my grandpa, who served in WWII, did vote for Eisenhower when he ran the first time. Of course, Eisenhower isn't what you'd consider a Republican by today's standards.

And actually seems like a decent, if bit spoiled young woman. I did not understand the plus size comment at all. Typical crazy right wingers trying to take down one of the few young people in their party. Good for us though that the Repubs just keep imploding.

11. Meghan is confused because of her dad and the party
she doesn't realize that while her dad is a Republican and that's the main reason she is a Republican. that the Republican Party as a whole does not like her dad. and the base especially hates him.

the people who attended rallies to see her dad were most likely people who were more moderate or just likes the "maverick" thing.

the ones who turned up later and were mostly at Palin rallies are the ones that make up the Republican Party.

and did you see her talk about abortion ? her position IS what is called pro choice. "i'm personally pro life but i respect others decision". that's called being pro choice. and there is no "pro life".

it's either pro choice or anti choice.

15. That's pretty tough given her views in the repig party. The gay bashers, religious nuts, racists
and other intolerant control the party. There is no place for her and she is fighting a losing battle.

16. well, the republican party is going to have to figure out who they are if they want to survive.
if they want to be the racist, religious crazy gay bashers, then they aren't going to get very far. unless the moderate pragmatic republicans get control back, then they aren't going to get very far. i don't have a problem with people who may believe in god or things like that... the problem i have is when they try to push that belief on me. The funniest thing about the republican party is that they are for 'individual rights' and stay out of my business... but they want to legislate religion and ban abortion and outlaw gay marriage. contradictory much?

21. Hypocrisy is at the core of the republican party. Also re:"moderate pragmatic republicans"-
They have driven many of them away, especially in PA.

14. I come from a family of Republicans and an area chalk full
of social conservatives. Meghan represents most young republicans -- fiscally conservative and not interested in the social issues. Generally pro-choice and pro gay marriage. I even attend school with a young organic farming, converted Muslim libertarian. The debate over center-right, center-left is confined to older generations -- we are decidedly center-left.

17. Megan's thoughts seem half-baked. She needs more time with democrats.
I believe her soul is democratic IF ONLY she'd stop drinking the GOP kool-aid.

She FINALLY identified an issue where she differs from mainstream Republicans. I had been hearing "I'm a DIFFERENT kind of Democrat, I swear!" for what, five show appearances, without any specifics.

19. Pretty pathetic that Meghan McCain is better on marriage equality than most Dem leaders
but then it's a generational thing. Fourty years from now, people will wonder why this was even an issue.
