Heard It Here First - Press Conference Talking Point - Did Obama Pick His Nose Or Scratch?
Edited on Tue Mar-24-09 01:56 PM by Median Democrat
We, of course, need a talking point that is totally unrelated to the issues to distract from the merits of Obama's agenda. So, some might argue that the media will complain about access while also questioning why Obama is doing so many interviews, town halls and press conference. Others might think that the media will seize on Obama's self-deprecating humor, and argue that Obama is actually whining about his bowling skills. In other words, when Obama says that the challenges we face are great, what Obama is really doing is whining. Boohoo. I have the toughest economic crisis since the Great Depression. Yeah, you and every other President, pal.

However, I am going aim lower, and predict that tonight's nontroversy is whether a scratch is a pick or not. Also, when Obama insists that its a scratch not a pick, then the media can discuss the culture of denial that pervades the Obama White House.

Yup, you have to love that "liberal" media.

:fistbump:

2. Politico postulates that the reason he is doing so many interviews and speeches
Edited on Tue Mar-24-09 01:56 PM by NJmaverick
is he is trying to bypass the media filter. Now they add a lot of right conspiracy theories and sinister motives, but the idea that Obama is trying to bypass the right wing owned media, very well be a valid one. Not Politico's motives or other comments, just the idea that Obama is trying to talk to the people directly.

3. Hmm, Second Primetime Press Conference and 60 Minutes Is Bypassing?
Edited on Tue Mar-24-09 01:57 PM by Median Democrat
Shoot, I'd hate to see what is their idea of "accessible." Actually, we do know, because he is also getting attacked for being "over exposed."

4. I think you've got it right. He knows if he just sits back the media will
tell their own story that has nothing to do with reality. The prime time stuff is more of the same. Talking directly to the public instead of just letting the press making up their own stuff.

8. I agree with Politico on this one
He is bypassing the media, with good reason. The media wants to put spin on partial statements and present, at best, one Democrat and one Repub to discuss and/or attack. If he didn't talk directly the media would push he is doing too much, not enough, the price is too high, he is inexperienced. So he talks to the Nation like adults and wins. Time for the media to start doing their jobs.

9. He is not bipassing the media, he is using them his way.....
quite different. The corporate media is exactly who's is going through, not passing by.
