Obama: GOP Just "Against Whatever The Other Side Is For"
The Huffington Post | Rachel Weiner | March 24, 2009

President Obama has gotten more aggressive in his criticism of Republicans in advance of the upcoming budget fight. In an interview with the Louisville Courier-Journal, Obama suggested the opposition party wasn't for anything beyond opposition:

"I do think that the Republican Party right now hasn't sort of figured out what it's for," Obama said in a White House interview with The Courier-Journal and reporters from five other newspapers. "And so, as a proxy, they've just decided 'we're going to be against whatever the other side is for.' That's not what's needed in an economic crisis."

He added that "you could play that game maybe in the early '90s, when basically we were pretty prosperous. Right now, everybody's got to pull together."

4. The GOP is confused as what to do....they are still looking for the
Heroes they need....the last one(Bush) was a flop...and the McCain dude was embarrassing as he palled around with Palin and Joe Plumber...

Their bench is a shallow one....

Their ranks have been decimated to the point of desperate....

6. So tough on the "Republicans" after obediently carrying the Wall Street water ?

Toxic Assets renamed Legacy and put on our backs ?

Sherrod Brown has flat out said that the bailouts were unnecessary. (I was very impressed with his analysis and his transparency).

The economists I respect have spoken out against the so-called Public Private Investment Plan (a title worthy of Bushspeak).

On the Wall Street Bailouts-why am I reminded of Lyndon Johnson and his Kennedy Braintrust's argument on Vietnam---The Domino Effect argument was the "Too Big To Fail" argument of its day.

"If Vietnam falls, all of Asia falls.."

If AIG falls, all of Europe falls..."

and so we sacrifice our children and our treasure and our well-being.

When the bills for Vietnam came due Jimmy Carter was in the White House.

10. Obama gave opponents the ammunition to cut the budget as his Wall Street Plan
saddles us with the massive Toxic Assets.

The budget is for all of us. The PPIP and the Bailouts are for Wall Strret/big Banks/Hedge Funds.

He addressed Wall Street's demands first. Thus he gave everyone including respected economists and those worried about the the possibility of our debt leading to the bankruptcy of our country and/or security concerns, reason to oppose spending as much as we planned to spend in our budget .

Basically Obama actions have made it likely that the budget will be cut much more than it would have been and he did it by caving to Wall Street. I think he know this and the Obstructionist charges are just political theater.

I don't think we have the luxury of following the team sport model of politics anymore-at least I don't have the luxury, nor do my children.

My life has been too greatly damaged by the political bs that passes for governmental leadership for me to not demand accountability and transparency from the party I have voted for for decades.
