Cantor has called a 10:30 AM Press Conference to announce their Housing Plan
Edited on Tue Mar-24-09 05:34 PM by Thrill
This should be fun.

House Republicans are going to announce their Housing Plan. Let me guess, it will be some populist plan, they know damn well they really don't want to pass. Should Democrats call their bluff?

1. If it is faux-populist, the Dems should call their bluff, and challenge
them to make it better.

My prediction is it will be tax cuts. What else?

"A ONE-YEAR MORTGAGE HOLIDAY" http://www.saveoureconomy.com/

eta: A friend told me that they've had ads on tv in Chicago. But I can't tell from the site who is behind it.

6. Doubt it. Cantor's family is heavily involved in real estate development and his wife rakes in big $
working for a bank.

Remember this when he comes out with his little plan tomorrow.

7. I will! And btw....
As you watch him tomorrow, ask yourself if he reminds you of some old time preppy guy asking, "Tennis anyone?!" I swear I can hear him saying things like, "Oh Buffy, Oh Muffy!". Otherwise I'd want to throw something at the tv screen. He drives me teaspoons.

8. I had the unforunate experience of being inside his media market during the campaign
and had to watch him swarm and whine every night in his ads.

My TV is happy to have survived those couple of months.

His voice alone will keep him from becoming a major player... even statewide.

His constituency doesn't seem to mind, being that whale belts, corduroys in every shade of the rainbow and topsiders are still very much in vogue in his district.

11. Oh God! You poor thing...
He exudes being so stuck up, as we used to say when I was a kid. I guess these days that translates to him thinking "he's all that". :D

5. DUers need to start focusing on Cantor like a laser beam. Here's why:
The guy is totally completely 100% unvetted.

He went to college.
He graduated and went to work for his Congressperson.
He went to law school and graduated and went to work at his family's business -- doing legal and real estate development, BTW.
And then, when this Congressman who he had worked for decided to retire -- BOOM -- Cantor ran in his place, probably with the help of his old boss's donor list and endorsement and won.
And then, once again, BOOM, suddenly he's vaulted in the junior leadership by Blunt after DeLay was kicked the curb.

One interesting little factoid: he's pals with Abramhoff who actually named a sandwich after Cantor at his restaurant in D.C.

We need to dissect every move this guy makes into a million tiny pieces.

He needs a serious examnination because he's never gotten one.
