1. A perfect analogy
I'm still thinking about it 5 minutes later.

14. I certainly heard it before, but it was a great phrase to remind people...
Granted, I can see Ann Coulter Et Al.. saying it's snobby because "Americans can hardly afford ocean liners, let alone speed boats". I won't be surprised...

:puke:

12. Me too, but then I thought "Naah, we're more like the Exxon Valdez."
The previous captain left the navigation to others, possibly because he was drunk; they ran the ship into icebergs, and now there's a huge goddamn mess. Obama is now at the helm of the ship and he has to not only patch the hole and keep it from sinking, he's gotta clean up the mess. Not gonna happen quickly. But that doesn't mean you don't try.

7. Good imagery, but a pretty common analogy
One you hear in Management and Operations meetings, where one side wants changes made the day before yesterday, and the other is trying to politely use some perspective and logic to offset an irrational request.

15. that's just it...Titanic tried to be a "speed boat" and look what happened!
If they had not been going so fast because of the timeline to reach NY then that incident would have never happened.

19. Better than good framing. Accurate.
There's a lot of inertia in the administrative agencies (due in no small part to Bush hirees)- and a lot of friction in the cowardly Congress.
