Evan Bayh, Tom Carper and Blanche Lincoln

As moderate leaders, it is not our intent to water down the president's agenda. We intend to strengthen and sustain it. Moderation is not a mathematical process of finding the center for its own sake. Practical solutions are practical because they offer our best chance to make a difference in people's lives today without forcing our children to pick up the tab tomorrow.

The stakes are too high for Democrats to fear a policy debate. Such debates produce better legislation. On nearly all important votes, a supermajority of 60 senators will be needed to pass legislation. Without Democratic moderates working to find common ground with reasonable Republicans, the president's agenda could well be filibustered into oblivion.

Beyond the chessboard of the Senate, nearly half of the U.S. electorate calls itself moderate, and more than half of the rest identify themselves as conservative. That means Democrats could capture every liberal vote and half of the moderates and still lose at the polls. Many independents voted for President Obama and the contours of his change agenda, but they will not rubber-stamp it. They are wary of ideological solutions and are overwhelmingly pragmatic. Many of them live in our states and in the states of the other senators who have joined our group.

Pure garbage. More sabotage from faux Dems.

1. Too cowardly and corrupt to oppose Bush and the far right
But just fine with going after the progressives and programs hat would help the people who voted for them- as their real constituents aren't the voters at all- but the people who funnel money to them.

And they'll continue behaving this way unless and until there are real consequnces for their actions.

Now all of a sudden they care about deficits. As far as I am concerned, the deficit spending Obama is proposing is similar to investing in a beautiful, well-built home. It takes a while to pay for it, but the benefits you enjoy for years and years.

3. Why didn't the Republicans ever need a supermajority
of 60 Senators to pass legislation?

With friends like these...

4. That's EXACTLY right
Every time you see a decision by an extremist judge- or we feel the results of some irrational Republican policy, we can "thank" the people on that list.

And we can also thank the "leadership" for making certain that these neodixiecrats never paid a price.

12. What do they hope to gain by wedding themselves to the
party of NO? I don't understand these people. It really makes me sick. Did they not understand the election this past November? We voted for change and these assholes are attempting the opposite. I hope each and every one of them gets voted right out of office.

16. Conservative Dems in disguise. Thank the lucky stars that Bayh is not our VP
He would be undermining Obama every step of the way. Biden is a team player. Bayh makes me sick. The deficit has to wait for now, we have more pressing issues to deal with.

17. I sent this letter to Sen. Bayh. Why don't you?
Dear Senator Bayh,

My friends, neighbors, family, acquaintances and I are very upset about the organization of the so-called Conservadems at a time when the American public has made it overwhelmingly clear that we sick of politics as usual and have elected Obama as president and chosen Democrats because of their platform. We have voted against the special interests that raped and pillaged the US during the Bush administration but they have apparently gotten to you and this new group. I tell you we will not stand for it and there is a growing number of people made strong and unified through the internet that will be heard. So take your special interest money and hide it well because we will come looking and expose you for the fraud that you are.

I intend to send this letter to all of the Conservadems that I can find and to my representative Senators as well as everyone on my email list.

Get with the program and start being part of the solution instead of part of the problem!

18. Self identification and fear of 2010 failure are not good reasons.
We have economic fact on our side. Time to refute strongly the supply side nonsense, and they can start with townhalls in their states.

20. What an Outrage!
I have a petition that I started after learning about the Conservadems goals to thwart President Obama and those of us who support him and his goals! Has there been an uprising? A rush to the streets? No this isn't France! Millions of phone calls or petitions? No we aren't there yet! I have 380 signatures .... We have millions and millions of people suffering and we have yet to get desperate enough to see the light as a country! We need these selfish "moderate" people OUT! How do we inspire our country to move? Does it take a complete collapse?
