Was Taplin wrong about Krugman being wrong?
I have no clue. I am one who admits I know extremely little about macroeconomics. For this reason this thread will be in the form of a question.
Recently, Joe Taplin wrote a column claiming that economist Paul Krugman had been wrong about two past claims:
1) that our recession would not come to be as bad as the Argentinian recession, (of which I know nothing).
And
2) that Krugman "insisted" that Hillary Clinton and only Hillary Clinton would be able to "beat the Republicans" meaning John McCain.
In order to find out the truthiness of Taplin's accusation, I ask those here with sufficient economic literacy to tell me/us how bad the Argentinian situation affected their citizens as compared to the effects of the current recession that America has experienced during these past months.
Did Krugman say this? Is Taplin guessing Krugman's thoughts on electability?
Additionally, we will need to be directed to a link showing the words attributed to Krugman to the effect that no other candidate except for Hilary Clinton would be able to become President.
Thanks in advance.
