Constitutional Scholar Calls Bush Torture Memos Treason
How can Obama ignore this and not appoint a special prosecutor? This must not happen again.

Naomi Wolf | Constitutional Scholar Calls Bush Torture Memos Treason

http://www.truthout.org/032609L

Naomi Wolf, AlterNet: "In early March, more shocking details emerged about George W. Bush legal counsel John Yoo's memos outlining the destruction of the republic. The memos lay the legal groundwork for the president to send the military to wage war against US citizens; take them from their homes to Navy brigs without trial and keep them forever; close down the First Amendment; and invade whatever country he chooses without regard to any treaty or objection by Congress."

2. Treason has a very narrow definition.
Sounds like the good scholar is diminishing his argument by engaging in hyperbole.

3. yep. and his Burr analogy wasn't particularly well chosen
Leaving aside the fact that Burr was acquitted of treason, the Burr conspiracy did involve allegations that he intended to ally with another country (Mexico) in controlling the western parts of the country.

4. But but but Obama wants to "move on." What is he afraid of?

5. Naomi Wolf is, unfortunately, very much her mother's daughter
Undermining the Constitution is not treason.

It is arguably worse, but it isn't treason.

But when you are raised by a snuff-film conspiracy nut I guess the hyperbole comes naturally.
