Murphy Takes Lead in NY-20
Political Wire:

As the NY-20 special election enters the final weekend, Scott Murphy (D) has reversed a four-point deficit and turned it into a four-point lead over Jim Tedisco (R), according to a new Siena Research poll.

Murphy now leads 47% to 43% among likely voters, having trailed two weeks ago by a 45% to 41% margin.

Key findings: Tedisco's campaign is viewed by voters as more negative by a 44% to 25% percent margin, while Murphy's campaign is seen as more positive. Nonetheless, the conventional wisdom in the district is that Tedisco will win the election.

3. Just curious
anyone in NY getting robo calls either for or against? My wife has been getting around 3 a week twice a day on her cell. When she tries to check the number the call was made from it displays invalid number format. Verision was of no help either.

Also consider President Obama's support and urging of support may help. While this Is a conservate district he did win It.
Republicans were hoping to use this as evidance the public Is rejecting his agenda. They may not get the chance.

25. Lol. You're breaking my heart, I'm sure.
The "likes" of me...yeah I guess I'm some horrible THING because I fucking hate my district being sold out and swindled by corporate whores. It's such a lie to say that we couldn't elect a progressive in this district; I grew up here and the first candidate who showed any REAL interest in preserving family farms without capitulating to Big Ag would win in a heartbeat.

How pathetic you take a message board so personally.

B. That candidate would have a chance of winning?

Just curious...

This whole campaign stinks to high heaven of corrupt pay to play Albany politics.

21. Because John Sweeney, the repuke, was plagued with scandal...
specifically involving wife-beating. She ran a tough campaign, too...she's scrappy. She was nice to the hunters (we have a lot of hunters here), and her nice family made a stark contrast to the 'family values' repuke she was up against.

They have a registration edge, but Obama carried the district in the presidential race.

19. Like it really matters. Murphy sucks, worthless POS Blue Dog
Edited on Fri Mar-27-09 08:41 PM by Runcible Spoon
If someone would run on a REAL platform to help small farmers, not whore them out to agribusiness, we could get a real progressive in office in this district.

Sadly, the Dems won't push one as a real candidate so we're stuck with these disgusting Blue Dog DINOs.

On edit: I'm writing in Eric Sundwall on principle because the way he got kicked off the ballot by Tedisco's henchmen is just CRIMINAL. This whole election is a fucking farce.

26. Um, Sundwall just endorsed Murphy...
NY-20, Sundwall Slams Tedisco Cronies, Endorses Murphy

Libertarian Candidate Eric Sundwall who was kicked off the ballot this week by a challenge from Tedisco allies and folks from the Local Conservative Party, has written a letter blasting the ballot access process, Tedisco's cronies who knocked him off and endorsing Scott Murphy. It reads in part:

Mr. Tedisco denies any involvement with the concerted effort by his supporters to knock me off the ballot. I don't believe him. The ruthless effort by his supporters to knock me off the ballot without a word of protest by him proves his unfitness for any office let alone Congress in these critical times.

I will be voting for Scott Murphy on Tuesday. While we disagree on some important issues, I find him to be a man of honor, a good family man and successful businessman. Unlike Tedisco, he actually lives in the District. And, unlike Mr. Tedisco, I view Scott's business success as a virtue, not a vice.

I urge my supporters and all those who believe in open and free elections to show their disgust at the tactics of the Republican political machine to win at all costs. Please join me in voting for Scott Murphy on Tuesday
.

30. And your point? It's a symbolic gesture. I don't support the platforms of ANY of them.
I don't support Sandwall for any other reason beyond his getting kicked off the ballot.

As I said above, this whole election stinks. This district will be stuck with Repukes and DINOs until the Democrats get their heads out of their asses and appoint someone worth electing and the people get clean elections.

It makes me sad and sick to see my district once again beaten into submission and taken for granted by the greedy corporate machine.

Yay, go Murphy. Venture capitalist wooooo

Tedisco is my assemblyman. The guy is a total hack and I would love to see him lose. The icing on the cake would be for him to lose his assembly seat the next go round, too.
