Baucus: We Can Accomplish Health Care Reform ‘Without’ Public Health Plan Option
Baucus: We Can Accomplish Health Care Reform ‘Without’ Public Health Plan Option :

Let’s see what we come up with. I think we can accomplish the objective (Dean) wants without (a public plan). We can, we’re going to have to work on it. But we may have to have it, (Dean) may be right. Just don’t know yet.

2. Baucus' important statement to me: "But we may have to have it, (Dean) may be right. "
That's the part we will have to work on Baucus to better understand......which is the opposite of the part you highlighted.

So we have to take him where he is not sure we should go. Assignment noted for Dean and Org. :patriot:

3. FedEx and UPS compete with the federal government...
Why can't the health insurance companies?

4. That's an excellent analogy I hadn't thought of before.
If people have the choice between United Healthcare and a government-run system they will gravitate to whichever one offers what they need at a price they can afford.

6. And the USPS delivers more packages and mail in a day than both those companies do in a year...
its not really competition, they have a niche market compared to the Federal Government.

8. Do they?
You have any idea how much the USPS uses FedEx for its overnight deliveries?

5. I am so sick of this attempt at
bipartisianship. I don't care what any repug says - they do not want us to pass healthcare reform. The reason Baucus and senate democrats are going out of their way to do healthcare reform without a public option is because repugs refuse to consider adding a public option. I agree with Pelosi on this. I say we forget the repugs and go for healthcare reform with a public option and do it via budget reconciliation. Screw the repugs. I am sick of us still trying to play nice with them. Enough.

7. They're really not talking about healthcare
they talking about health insurance. And none of these idiots that don't like a public option and who all have great coverage provided by their employer - seem to understand that access to health insurance does not guarantee access to health care.

12. Given that Dean says specifically that his goal is a system with a public option
Baucus is - by definition wrong.
