another Hippo-Critical issue: The treatment of wives.
Recall eight yrs ago? When any questions about Laura Bush immediately brought out the dogs? If anyone started to mention Laura in anything but glowing terms, every mainstream media branch would attack those posing the questions, always claiming that the wife of a president was not a proper topic of conversation, and that people should exert self-censorship.

In fact, many on the left joined in and agreed that spouses should not be targets, and should be left alone.

Those at the forefront, the loudest complainers, and those most willing to attack a Laura questioner, happen to be the same buffoons who are now attacking Michelle Obama. Her looks, her arms, her clothing, her "black trash @@@ger" attitude, even her ability to go through law school and get great jobs. The attacks are getting ever more rancid, disgusting and unfair, not to mention wrong and misguided.

So, what happened to the media ideas that spouses were off limits? Ever get the feeling that the so-called liberal bias in the media is as about as true as Bush claiming Mission Accomplished?

1. Laura was put under lock and key after saying she would have voted for Gore had she...
not been married to GWB because she was raised a Democrat.

Her profile was very low, even here in DC.

The press was all over Barbara Bush for being ugly, and Nancy R for being mean. Laura had a rare few years off. Like Lady Bird, I think folks felt sorry for her being married to a total bastard.

2. I hate it when hippos are critical.
They should just stay in their rivers and STFU.

3. Well look where the bile is coming from
And take it with a grain of salt. Only one person called Michelle 'trash', and she just ruined herself with her macaca moment. The day will come when she will regret what she said because she just defined herself to the world, and she attacked one of the most popular women in the world. This will stick to Tammy Bruce like 'nappy headed hos' or 'macaca' does to Imus and Allen. Blatant and ugly racism stick to racists like a lingering stench that never goes away.
