Poll question: What's your current grade for President Obama?
Mine's still B+.

The good:

A very active first days of his Presidency
A determination to fix the economy

The not so good:

Afghanistan policy
Some concerns down the road about health care and his appointments

1. Giving him the benefit of the doubt, but expect to be disappointed re LEAVING Iraq and
Afghanistan.

I DO have other issues, though. Will see how it all works out.

3. he'd have gotten a higher grade from me
if he hadn't hurried himself up to get the USA involved in yet another war without end! I thought he'd play the cards smart and tread lightly but no such luck. :evilfrown:

I am disappointed as all hell and I'll admit it. I regret the donations too.

I'm wondering how dangerous he might be now.

Aww sh*T!

:kick:

8. The Wars DO affect EVERYTHING else. It's a fucking HUGE price to pay so that
the Military won't feel like they were wasted and so that a certain segment of the population feels as though there is some "higher cause/power" to live for by being willing to wreak Death and Destruction in the name of _________________, when all along it's just TransNational Corp enslaving America.

I'm not happy about this. It is a HUGE disappointment for me, so the "trade-off", if there actually is one,

MUST BE TRULY SIGNIFICANT,

not just another pacifier.

4. Many are blaming Obama for the state of this nation,
and don't want to reasonably understand that he can not change the entire direction of this country,
in one fell swoop, and in fact, he most likely won't be able to achieve all that he would want or could,
as there are only so many hours in a day, and so many days in a week.

He is turning an ocean liner and not a speed boat.

I give an A.

Too much work ahead to seek disappointment, as that is too easy to do.

10. 2010 mid-term elections are going to be a "death-match."
God damned murdering dinosaurs aren't going to go easily and it's all only a front for what really runs this country anyway.

30. The ocean liner-speed boat analogy is spot on
and it's why I think it's not really appropriate to be giving him any sort of a grade at this point.

The only folks who are blaming Obama for the state of the nation are extremist wingnuts whose opinions don't matter. Normal people recognize that he's inherited a mess of epic proportions and that it's going to take some time to clean up. Because of this even preliminary grades don't make sense for another 12-18 months. Right now we can point to things he's doing that look promising (of which there a quite a few) and offer criticism for things where his approach seems suboptimal, but it's silly to try to measure his effectiveness before we can witness the results of his leadership.

13. We have to take into account the time in office, for sure
Edited on Sun Mar-29-09 02:26 PM by mvd
Only at the mid-term will there be a truly meaningful grade. But with all the complaints lately, I thought it was time for another poll.

I give him high marks considering half the country still says they are moderate, but I have a wariness about how much the system will be changed in the end.

Overall, he gets a C.

7. who cares...
it seems that this 'civilization' we live in is so full of bullshit it literally is bogged down- and putting a fixer in who really hasn't much choice to really fix seems the height of hypocrisy. The fact the main mechanism for maintaining control of the people in the democratic west is itself under total news blackout via censorship by reactionary rightwing pigmedia should alarm a society that lost $50 trillion thus far to cheap petty thieves helped by the likes of the lying neocons at foxnews cnn and soon....but NOOOOOOOO! Obama is a bit player, who cannot do anything (unless he ends the 'war on drugs' etc, iow restart the american revolution, but he won't cuz they would impeach him for not having his US citizenship or something- you know what them assholes are capable of see 911 hahaha)

Now he is parroting Clinton's old line of "Lets face it those jobs are not coming back"

Lets face it Obama - Out sourcing is what led to the financial crisis

16. I can't really give him a grade yet since I haven't seen any results
He gets an A for things like stem cell research, global gag rule, etc. that are obvious. But it's too early to see most of the results for any major policy initiatives. When the results come back, I will assign a grade.

Bush wrecking things so badly and Obama maybe adopting a strategy different than Clinton's early strategy in order to get more done eventually. I could change my grade to C later (my final grade for Clinton) if my suspicions aren't true. :hi:

19. He's so interested in being bipartisan that he's going Thug lite which was Clinton's downfall.
And brought us GATT, NAFTA, the Telecommunications Act and Gramm Leach Bliley.

He's already back tracking on Don't Ask, Don't Tell, is allowing Gates to rattle acts of war, sanctions, on Iran, is giving away the store through Geithner and Duncan and has a completely wrong headed response to legalizing marijuana.

Shmuck.

21. Reminds me of how Clinton pandered and squandered his edge. Exaggerating to make a point.
Though the examples I use greatly concern me that he's taking things in the wrong, same old, direction.

24. Using the uncurved traditional school scale,
"C" means he's getting 3/4 of everything right. That's pretty damn good for an American president.

The man is astonishing. he will do great things for our economy and our standing in the world. I amhopeful he will get us universal health care, or at least on the road to it.
