If John McCain was in office, you know what I'd have to say right now?
Nothing.

Why would I bother?

My voice wouldn't be heard, there would be zero possibility of that administration ever listening to my concerns are responding to my needs. I would be voiceless and marginalized.

Which sadly, would make a lot of people here happier.

But instead, we have an administration where my voice might actually matter. Thus I speak up and speak out about the things I want, even if they are different than the direction the administration is currently headed.

I don't intend to stop doing that for as long as I have a shred of hope that it might matter.

...

I'd rather focus on issues.

8. Not critics of your ideas.
It's a subtle difference that speaks volumes about the mindset of some.

3. If mccane was president, and palin VP
there wouldn't be all the manufactured outrage we're seeing on DU now. There would be real outrage. We forget how good we have it. Obama, in spite of whatever differences some of us have with some of his policies, is light years better than mccane/palin. Of all the people who might have been president, we got the best one.

19. Not a quotation, using quote markts to capture a figure of speech......
Would have been more accurate if I had done it like this....

...if by "better" we mean "better than total shit" ...

Which is what we're talking about when people are like hey its better than McCain so shutup.

"better than McCain" is only a starting point, not a resting place.

13. same to you
I love how the legitimate concerns of people worried about the direction America is taking is considered "manufactured outrage". Seeing this on a DEMOCRATIC BOARD is just plain SICKENING. :puke:

14. The OP is talking about a mccane presidency
To not appreciate the fact that we have Obama as president instead of mccane is crazy. If you are so unhappy about it, well maybe you are on the wrong board.

16. Again, "better than utter shit" isn't exactly a good resting point.
The rest of us are now focused on moving on from "marginally better than shittastic."

27. It's not "mccane", it's McCAIN!
You're from Arizona, for heaven's sake, at least get the man's name right if you're going to argue about him.

And just because he isn't president doesn't mean we can't be disappointed because the president we voted for is leaning further to the right than his campaign promises indicated.

There's no such thing as "manufactured outrage". People get outraged on their own, without any external help needed.

29. I call him mccane on purpose
It's a joke you know, old, with a cane, and I choose not to capitalize it. Many here refer to our last president as *. Get mad why don't you, manufacture somemore outrage. Look for things to upset you and then get mad.

18. Reality is we don't know what a McCain would do; clearly many are stunned by what Obama is doing.
We need to deal forcefully with the administration we have, not worry about the one we do not have.

24. Right.
You've been stunned about Obama since forever.
When he scratches, you're amazed.
You he shifts from one foot to the other, you can scarsely believe it!
When he does what he promised for two years, your mouth hangs open.
Yep...that's you. :eyes:

36. Do you know PH at all? Long after I worked for Obama during the
primaries, suffered through the FISA ordeal, and then less optimistically voted for the dude cuz I had no other choice, PH was running around supporting Obama at every turn. In fact, he and I had several run-ins over it. He worked tirelessly for the guy, and I believe that's why he's now looking at certain issues and asking "huh"? If anyone has a right to ask those questions, he does.

25. Who's stopping you?
If you're sending feedback to the Obama admin and you feel that it's being considered, isn't that what counts?

If you were truly 'voiceless' here, I'd take that to mean your posts are being removed.

Everyone seems to still have their voices, whether they're used to express support for Obama, or to call people who dare to say they support Obama "worshippers" :wtf:, or to say they reserve the right to criticize Obama or his decisions. I don't see any opinions being suppressed, but it seems a lot of people are bent out of shape when others criticize (but do not actually alter or remove) their comments.

completely different. The economy would be on the back burner because we'd be talking about how many more Americans would be lost in the war with Iran.
