Robert Gibbs has not improved his "Uhh's". Distracting and Unimpressive
He is good at what he does but definitely not looking impressive at his briefings. They gave hell to Caroline kennedy for her "you knows" but Gibbs get a pass for his "uuhhs"

from a Gibbs you expect pop songs.

5. What?
He is good at what he does but definitely not looking impressive at his briefings.

Uuhhh....maybe if you took a moment and muttered uhhhh before typing that sentence, you might have reworded it differently. You know....like...umhmm.. and it would make sense.

9. Robert Gibbs Does a Fine Job IMHO
He takes the time to think about answering questions which where the pauses and uhhs come from. He's also from the deep South and this is also somewhat of a cultural thing. We Southerners take our damn time getting there but when we do, ya'll better be ready...

16. Better "uhh" than "insert foot in mouth" but it is a trade off
Obama can be the same way but I would much rather hear him critisized for that than saying the wrong thing. There is something to be said about taking a couple of seconds to think before spouting your mouth off.

17. gibbs stuff
Gibbs...said " if the automakers goes bankrupt the government will honor the guarantee.."

well reporters will have a field day about this statement....sounds very "socialist"

reporters are mad because more consideration for AIG than for automakers

Gibbs said " president thank GM CEO for the years of service "

(funny thanks but no thanks)

and the fake reporter from India still present in the room ...so I guess he still have the press pass.

Gibbs is a car sales men he said....- " Chevy Malibu car of the year"
reporters just laugh .

20. he even looks like a dweeb, what do you mean? he's awful all around
i don't know what they see in him.

There are issues about relations with the press, vocabulary and issues definitions and wordings, and more. I think he is out of his league. He doesn't have to be evil, but I would like him to grow up and into some strategic, geometric thinking, instead of all of this linear crap.

you want a pretty face with some memorized pablum to feed the press, so they can feed it to us. Got it! Form over function, indeed.

27. He's horrible. I can't even watch him. Why couldn't we have
a Rachel Maddow type up there who speaks succintly, confidently and says a lot. Gibbs is like listening to a coffin salesman.

28. there is a big difference between "uhs ... uhms" and "you know"
"you know" shows that you can't even come up with the words you want to say and impressing upon the person that is interviewing you that they should figure out what you mean. once in a while is ok when it's obvious, but not many times. uhs and uhms is meant to let the listener know that you aren't finished and are putting your thoughts together. it's quite typical in a Q&A format. president obama uses uhs and uhms. sec clinton uses them (the last interview she did with andrea mitchell was peppered with them). they are called hesitation markers, you can read about them in this book called Power and politeness in action by Miriam A. Locher.

That guy is THE worst public speaker I've ever seen in a position like this anywhere- much less one of this stature. The stumbling nd yannering is literally and painful empabarrassing to watch.
