14. How dare the other 95% marginalize them
by supporting Obama?

2. This means most people polled are not watching the talking heads or on this site complaining about
Obama. I think we get a little caught up in this bubble and start worrying that dems are sideways when it is really just a bunch of trolls and dissenters trying to divide us.

6. The other 5%
* Some batshit crazy old white woman who is a PUMA and is still bitter about the Texas Democratic caucus last year.

* A fat old white guy in Alabama who still calls himself a "Dimmycrat" because the "Yankees" burned his granddaddy's barn in the "War of Northern Aggression". He hasn't actually voted for a Democrat since FDR (for president anyway).

* A far left wing extremist who is never satisfied with anything about America, has forgotten that we won the election and does not know how to do anything but complain. He still thinks we're in the Bush years.

I was telling my hubby about this site,
when he asked why I was looking at him
like I wanted to kick his ass.

He said, Obama s'got skills,
and I shouldn't so much worry about the echo chamber,
but only watch what Obama does, and why he's done it.

Then he laughed!

He disagrees on one issue, as do Stiglitz, Simon Johnson, and Galbraith.

but I know that's not the point of your OP. 95% of Dems. approving of Obama's job shows just how out of the mainstream the DU is.

Their constituents like what the president is doing, so they should stop trying to derail his policies.

27. Please, do not stop fighting, DUers.
I suppose I tend to sound like a permanent contrarian, because I rarely speak out about the things of which I approve.

But this is one thing I really like about DU. People argue. They have differing opinions and different points of view. Most of us are not the best debaters, but when pressed, sooner or later the citations and data starts to spit out and the rest of us have the goods we need to make our own decisions.

I am not convinced that presenting a unified front does us any good. We're far more independent and free than the "freedom" lovers on the other side of the aisle. Their freedom comes in super-size. Our freedom is the freedom to dissent and be heard.

We have a real shot at making the United States the bulwark of freedom and democracy that we always pretended we were (yet never actually achieved), and this President has a shot at being the greatest ever. But only if we keep him honest by calling bullshit everywhere we see it. So yeah, we all like what this President is doing, partly because he's listening to what we want and what we think needs to be done.

If we all line up behind this guy and say, "we trust you to do what's right," we'll find ourselves to be no better than the supporters of the last guy, and we'll suffer the same consequences. President Obama is a tough, smart dude. He can take our criticism, maybe even reads it once in awhile, or has someone read it for him.

So thanks for being you, all of you. I wouldn't have it any other way.
