Angie Harmon: I'm Not Racist Because I Disagree With Obama
Edited on Tue Mar-31-09 05:20 AM by underpants
Angie Harmon is not afraid to come out and say she doesn’t like how President Obama is handling the job — but she’s sick of having to defend herself from being deemed a racist.

"Here's my problem with this, I'm just going to come out and say it. If I have anything to say against Obama it's not because I'm a racist, it's because I don't like what he's doing as President and anybody should be able to feel that way, but what I find now is that if you say anything against him you're called a racist," Harmon told Tarts at Thursday’s Los Angeles launch of the new eyelash-growing formula, Latisse. "But it has nothing to do with it, I don’t care what color he is. I’m just not crazy about what he's doing and I heard all about this, and he’s gonna do that and change and change, so okay … I'm still dressing for a recession over here buddy and we've got unemployment at an all-time high and that was his number one thing and that's the thing I really don't appreciate. If I'm going to disagree with my President, that doesn't make me a racist. If I was to disagree with W, that doesn't make me racist. It has nothing to do with it, it is ridiculous."

1. First I've heard of her being called a racist
Edited on Tue Mar-31-09 05:32 AM by WeDidIt
Methinks she might protest too much.

In fact, from now on whenever I hear her name I will automatically think "she's a racist" because she pushed it out there herself.

4. Who??
No one even knows who she is and no one cares what she says. She sure does think a lot of herself. She is just trying to get her name in the news so she can get a part in an upcoming Lifetime movie.

10. For most of us, it means dressing in a potato sack and having
bean cans wrapped in newsprint for shoes. I would suppose that from the perspective of those who have made gads of cash, "entertaining" people, it would mean giving up "eyelash growing formulations" and taking shopping 7 days a week on Rodeo Drive to 6.

:D

8. President Obama has only been in office for a little over 2 months.
Did you expect him to have all the issues handed to him by Bush resolved at this point?

Take a dose of reality, Angie...it took Bush 8 years to fuck things up as bad as they are. Some of the damage began back during the Reagan era. It's going to take longer than a couple of months to fix the problem.

Anyone with a lick of sense knows that it's going to take some time to repair the damage. The fact that you're disappointed because it hasn't been done at this point shows what an idiot you are.

19. She sounds like Elisabeth from The View
I knew she was a Republican, but WTF, did someone call her a racist? And what does "I'm still dressing for a recession over here buddy and we've got unemployment at an all-time high and that was his number one thing and that's the thing I really don't appreciate." WHAT? I don't even get that. She was highly featured in fashion magazines a couple of years ago in really expensive duds, excuse me if I don't exactly sympathize with her specific hard times now.

Was her defending herself from these socalled charges. This isn't the first time, either, because she did the same thing last year when endorsing McCain (I'm not racist, I liked Colin Powell!)

The lady doth protest too much!

22. The problem, Angie, is that you have absolutely NO alternative plan to back your claims
If the Republicans came up with a plan other than "drill, baby, drill," and tax cuts for the wealthy, then I would understand. But with Rush and Bill and Sean and Glen making subtle references to Obama's race and not hearing anything from Angie in terms of distancing herself from that kind of rhetoric, sometimes it leaves one with no other choice than to assume race is at least part of the issue. When they have nothing to offer but disdain, hatred, divisive rhetoric and ridicule, then the only remaining issue is race. When they criticize the president for being "elitist," "professorial," etc., as a successful black woman, when those terms were leveled at me, they were racially coded. It's as if they are saying: How dare this man run for president! Doesn't he know his place?!??!

Come on, Angie. Don't feign outrage with me! We know exactly how you and your right wing friends feel about our president. Why don't go and join your hollywood friends like Chuck Norris and Fred Thompson, and ya'll can start your revolution, "armed and dangerous."

27. I had to look her up to find out who the hell she is.
First, she is a damn Republican. Even spoke at the 2004 GOP convention with her husband.

More importantly, Obama has only been in office less than 3 months. She apparently doesn't believe in giving people a chance to do their job.

She is a total twit!!

28. I read this garbage yesterday.
What pissed me off the most is how she says "still dressing for a recession" when it has only been 2 fucking months of him trying to fix the shit her beloved Bush helped to create. For an twit who said McCain and Palin would have been better, I guess this bullshit is to be expected.

35. Why does she even have to make that comment - if anything THAT makes her racist
If anything, the concept of her saying "I'm not racist but" makes me question her racism.

For her to just flat out disagree would mean she's a republican suck-up, but we knew that about Angie.
