4. I read an article in Vanity Fair
with Carla Bruni-Sarkosky on the front. Very intriguing history, not to mention how she and Nicholas met and their courtship..the French are very tolerant of extra marital activity.

I'm so glad we have Michelle Obama as our First Lady of the USA:fistbump::patriot::patriot:

25. Are they ever!
I'm not saying every French couple I met while there were tolerant of extra marital activity, but as a young woman studying art there, my sponsor's dad was one of the old-time politician, living in his fabulous apartment with his wife of nearly 50years and his young hot mistress/secretary (younger than my sponsor - his daughter) who was 30years younger. The wife was extremely stressed out lady while the mistress was a very relaxed and happy to go off to work together with him. It was shocking and intriguing. But it really bothered me how men introduced their wives as ma femme (my woman), and women introduced their husbands as ma mari (husband).
Oh, so many juicy stories from France :)

Go First Lady Obama.

7. Why pit one woman against the other??????
They are diametrically different. Why should there be a competition?

Is the implication that Carla only has her external beauty and not much more? Do you know her? I certainly don't.

Therefore, I will say that they both represent their respective nations very well.

:-)

8. Because that is what the television has been doing all day!
Got tired of hearing 'em.

I vote there as well, and have an opinion.
So I figured, it was ok.....

Michelle Obama is my winner.
That's all she wrote.

13. I work. I just have a Television on the side of my computer. :)
The cable chatter channels have been pitting the two against each other all day.
Considering that Ms. Bruni's previous occupation was that of a model,
they have only been judging them side by side based on beauty and clothes.

I'm just saying that multiple degrees and raising kids trumps everything else, for me....period.
Plus I like Barack Obama wayyyyy more than I do President Sarkozy.

So I figured I'd weigh in.

Ignore the media, they have to invent controversy where there is none to keep feeding the "beast".

22. Very true. I've noticed this, too. Very superficial people.
Michelle is my favorite for many reasons.
Yes, she is gorgeous and has great style.
She 's also a tremendous source of support and inspiration to her husband, is an amazing mother, is gracious, kind and very socially conscious.
She's a personal hero of mine.

Something that I would mention if I was a talking head in the MSM:
how cool is it that Michelle Obama speaks fluent French?
She even did graduate work about methods in teaching French.
I would love to hear her speaking French with Carla Bruni.

19. She's actually a very good musician, beacool. I had one of her albums for quite a while before she
and Sarkozy started their relationship, so it was really surprising to me as a fan of her music.
Here's a video

FrenchieCat is right, by the way, that the media has been doing this first lady vs. first lady thing all day.
I think the two women will have a lot to talk about.
I can see them having more in common with one another than some other first ladies.
They are both a bit unusual compared to their predecessors, both beautiful, fashionable, young and socially conscious.

BTW-Michelle Obama speaks fluent French and Carla Bruni speaks fluent English.

21. Thanks for the info.
I know almost nothing about Carla Bruni, other than she is Italian and a former model. I didn't know that she was a musician. I also didn't know that Michelle spoke French.

Two accomplished women, no need for competition. The media is just disgusting. After how they treated Hillary in the past, they can all collectively go to hell. They are a bunch of vultures.

:(

23. I'm afraid they're not done with Hillary Clinton, beacool. Did you hear that the "gaffe" about the
Virgin of Guadalupe was a complete fabrication?
She was asking about an actual painting of the cloak!

Luckily, she does seem to be staying above the noise considering that she seems almost too busy to take a moment to address the pettier aspects of the media machine.
I'm very proud of her and also proud of Obama for choosing her.
Its a great team.

28. Yes, she always stays above the fray.
She doesn't read or watch the trash said against her. If there's a need for her to know about a specific situation, her staff will inform her. During the campaign she had to respond, but in her day to day life she ignores petty attacks. What's the point?

:hi:

16. And poor Mrs. Brown.....
... who in a previous interview resigned herself to frumpieness when she did a joint thing with Carla before "how could I win?" was I think the quote. And now she's gotta share the stage with Carla AND Michelle.

Ah, Sarah .... motherhood is always lovely!

It's Michelle in a landslide. Perhaps she might loan Carla her belt? ;)

24. What I love about the First Lady is
she exudes vitality, energy, and charisma from within. Externally she has style and is one classy Lady. When I look at her it energizes me and gives me a sense of well being and that is good since I am almost 67 years old. LOL

26. They are both gorgeous but Michelle
seems so comfortable in her clothing, whereas Carla does not though she seems to be trying very hard. I just hope she's happier in her new role as the wife of the French president.
