I know it's far off, but I really am not scared for Obama in 2012...
...because I'm lurking at a Fox News blog, watching their reaction to the "Sarah Palin Disinvited to speak at GOP fundraiser, replaced by Gingrich" story...

It appears to me that half of the Republican party is willing to destroy the other half just to get Palin the nomination for the Presidency. If it isn't Palin, there will be some sort of GOP mutiny; if it IS, Obama will destroy her.

Sounds good to me!

14. Unfortunately, this is all too true. Obama's reelection should be taken seriously.
Hopefully, the Republicans will still be in disarray during the 2012 elections.

9. Almost All REPUBLICAN Presidents Who Run for Re-election Win
Bill Clinton is the only Democratic President to be re-elected since World War II.

10. Bill Clinton is only one of two Democratic Presidents to RUN for re-election in that time.
...if you don't count Truman and Johnson running for (and winning) their first elections as President.

But yes, point taken.

8. Massive Obama advantage in 2012
Incumbent with his party in power only one term, the most favorable situational influence imaginable. He would have to be stuck in Carter '80-type malaise to lose.

2008 was essentially a 2-for-1 for the Democratic nominee. We also will see further demographic movement in states like Colorado and Virginia, and in general the voting population will further slip away from white dominance. The percentage of white voters declines roughly 2% every 4 years, and that benefits our side. It was 85% in 1988 and 75% in 2008.

Now, the senate and House could be trouble spots in coming cycles. We may be close to maxed out, given the 2004 through 2008 senate outcomes and the 2006 and 2008 House verdicts. But I'm not worried about holding the White House.

12. We Are In Considerably Worse than the "Malaise" that Carter Had to Deal With
A severe recession and two wars, all at the same time.

Obama has to make significant progress on all of these this year despite constant obstruction by the Republicans.

16. I agree...
if Obama doesn't make much progress--especially on the economy, and regardless of whether it's the fault of Republican obstructionists--it's going to be a close re-election.

If he does, it should be in the bag.
