WaPo: (Republican Budget)Revision Proposes Deep Tax Cuts and Slash in Medicare, Medicaid Programs
"After getting blasted last week for presenting a budget plan light on details, House Republicans today unveiled a more complete proposal that would cut taxes for business and the wealthy, freeze most government spending for five years, halt spending approved in the economic stimulus package and slash federal health programs for the poor and elderly.

Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.), the senior Republican on the House Budget Committee, said the plan would stabilize the rising national debt by requiring the nation to borrow about $6 trillion over the next 10 years, $3.3 trillion less than would be required under the budget request submitted by President Obama.

Annual deficits also would be slightly lower than under the revised budget plans that emerged last week from the House and Senate Budget committees. The revised Democratic proposals would require the nation to borrow about $4 trillion over the next five years, compared with $3.1 trillion in new borrowing under the GOP alternative.

Still, the national debt would continue to climb under the GOP plan, topping out at around 75 percent of the economy, Ryan said -- an improvement over Obama's proposal but a good deal higher than the 40 percent debt the nation was running before the recession began. "

3. It's worked so well for us the last 8 years, why change, right?
Republican Party: the one trick dog that's done its one trick. Go home, folks. There's no need for you in Washington any more. You've proven quite well over the last 8 years that you aren't responsible, can't budget, aren't honest, and history proves this to be true. The economy generally performs better under Democratic leadership, the deficit is normally less under Democrats, as is unemployment.

Face it: the facts prove that America is better with Democrats in charge. Don't believe me? Check the facts.

7. He had Ravi Batrta on today for the whole 1st hour. Batra is even
harsher than Thom. He said not only should we raise taxes on the highest income individuals, but it is imperative that the minimum wage needs to be raised a lot! Get the money back into the hands of the people who spend it to buy things!

I'm glad he had Batra on the show today. He has not been on for a while.

8. What Does The Republican Budget Project For Economic Growth?
The $500 billion deficit only makes sense if you project health economic growth while cutting spending for entitlement programs and healthcare. I would guess that GDP would take huge hit if such cuts are made during a severe recession.

12. Where's the money for ME War II?
Or are they planning to return to the x-president's method of hiding the costs of war/defense?

I should try and hunt down a copy of their "plan" to find out.

14. We should dare them to vote for their own proposal
Any moron knows that votes for deep cuts in Medicare/Medicaid, etc, is politically toxic, so lets get the GOP to vote for their own proposal, and then blast them for it come election time.
