WH says queen requested it
Summary: The Politico reported that President Obama presented Queen Elizabeth II with "a personalized iPod," and noted criticism of the gift by an "etiquette expert," but did not mention that the White House reportedly said Queen Elizabeth asked for the iPod.

In an April 1 article, the Politico reported that President Obama presented Queen Elizabeth II with "a personalized iPod," and added, "The bestowing of the Royal iPod brought a cringe from one top etiquette expert, who said it confirmed that Obama hasn't figured out presidential gift giving." But while Politico staff writer Nia-Malika Henderson noted criticism of the gift by "etiquette expert" Anna Post of the Emily Post Institute, Henderson did not mention that the White House reportedly said Queen Elizabeth asked for the iPod that Obama gave her.

Indeed, while the Politico article reported that "perhaps surprisingly for folks in the U.S. the queen is no stranger to the iPod, because she already has one," it did not point out, as was reported earlier that night on Fox News' Special Report, that according to the White House, the queen requested a video iPod because she did not yet have one of that type.

An Ipod!!!!!! What a HGH mistake! Sersly!!!!!

Cripes! I don't think the Queen bloody cares. For all this much fuss, you'd think they'd given her a gift certificate to Olive Garden. Next time, bring a kudzu cutting with some fire ants.

1. Some folks really need to lighten up.
Maybe the Queen is tired of being so stuffy. Maybe she really needed that hug from Michelle too.

6. What do you get for the Queen who has everything?
Really. She's one the ten richest persons on earth. There is NOTHING she can't have if she wants it, so ANY gift is an exercise in redundancy.

11. Well, I was in a medical office the other day....
And I picked up a magazine, I think it was called DETAILS. I have never seen such asinine "fashion" in my life...and stars with stripes would have been the least of their problems!! It probably would have fit right in with their motif!

There was a whole article on how a fellah should take care of his white jeans, and the ads peppered throughout the mag had pictures of pouty fellows wearing what looked like ensembles from Rodney Dangerfield's "Regular Guy" collection (see the wonderful film EASY MONEY if you don't know what I mean) --one set of ads featured glen plaid sansabelt slacks with what looked like flowery blouses from someone's little sister's closet. Honestly--I am not joking!

I don't "get" fashion. It looked, to me, like the shit homeless people wear, only cleaned, pressed and without the urine and MD20/20 stains...! I sorta thought that the petulant looks on the models had to do with their being forced to wear that stupid looking crap!

Like I said in another thread, I guess the fashion this year is looking like you got dressed in the dark!

8. They are looking to jump on him because of the Brown gaffe earlier
with the NTSC movies.

The Queen can buy and sell most of us, she's one stinking rich lady.

Who knows, though--Olive Garden might be right up her alley--overcooked pasta and too-soft bread, it's what I found in UK Italian restaurants, even ones run by Italians, unless I specifically requested otherwise (at one such place, the waiter accomodated me with nice hard bread from their "secret stash" but he told me that UK patrons by and large preferred a very soft bread).

17. Amazing how in all these "stories"
about the IPOD, they never mention that the Obama's also gave her a beautiful, orginal, signed Rogers and Hammerstein Song Book, or that the IPOD was loaded with Broadway Music and video of the Queen's historic trip to America in 2007.

BTW - The Queen is reportedly a huge fan of Broadway Show Tunes.

As one DUer put it in another thread. I won't make jokes about Queens loving Broadway Show tunes, but I do find it strange that some in the MSM are trying to push the story that the Obama's just picked this up on special at Best Buy.

18. My husband, a Brit, was very annoyed that people thought the queen couldn't use an ipod.
It's strange how "protective" he is of her (if that is the right word..)
