Tea Party Participants in Your City
Has anyone noticed if there are many Tea Party participants protesting/marching in your city, today? We had a very small gathering that marched all of 6 blocks or so to the Mississippi River. When I saw them, there were maybe 12 with 2 walking away toward their cars, so I don't think they had much of a showing.

I also didn't notice anyone with teabags hanging out of their hats.

Here's a handy map to the festivities just in case someone wants to go see what Freep meet looks like in person. It's usually pretty sad.

6. I wonder if the "National Security" Apparatus will track these CESSESIONISTS as closely as they
have tracked/photographed/recorded the Peace Movement.

9. Not so funny really. I guaran-f-ing-tee you these are the same @#$%&! who pumped big NATIONAL money
into one of our local races last year and pounded a highly-qualified locally financed candidate in favor of a cosmetics sales lady who now dances to their tune for DIRTY Coal and ANTI-Alternative energy jobs.

Sorry I can't join you in your opinion: No laugh riot about it for us.

10. Sorry, that does suck.
I was just looking at California. Republicans are like unicorns out here. We are starting to feel the influence of the megachurches and the religious right vis a vis cruddy things like Prop 8, so I am keeping more of an eye on it these days.

Traditionally though, these meet-ups out here tend to be kind of weak. I'll guess we'll see. :hi:

8. Man arrested for sending teabag
Edited on Sat Apr-04-09 01:57 PM by MajPayne2
MANCHESTER – All Michael Yannetti wanted to do Monday was to protest the notion of Washington bailouts and $3.6 trillion in federal spending. So he did what thousands did across the country this week: mailed tea to their congressional representatives in protest.

Yesterday, police showed up at his door.

The green tea he had mailed to the Manchester office of Rep. Carol Shea-Porter prompted the evacuation of her office yesterday. Police and firefighters were at the downtown location for about 1 1/2 hours, securing the scene and conducting field tests for possible hazardous substances or volatile compounds.

“Really, I didn’t think it was a big deal,” said Yannetti, a dentist who lives in Pelham. “As far as I know, this was a mainstream thing.”

11. Huffington Post was asking for people to sign in for instructions on...
taking photos and counts of participants in your city. I didn't get down to see them march. They were supposed to march to the Mississippi and throw sand in, rather than tea. I guess they thought the fish would get wired on tea.

The signs I saw were something to the effect that families had to learn to live on a budget, the government should do the same and not put us further in debt.

I don't remember these people marching when Bush WAS putting us in debt.

13. Our local teabaggers (she said teabaggers, heh heh) are donating their tea to a local charity.
They were told to bring sealed boxes of tea, which they'd carry, but then later donate to a local shelter for homeless women and children.

They're misguided, but at least they're not trashing the tea.

14. I called them teabaggers, because some hang tea bags from their hats.
According to this morning's paper, they said there were around 70 present, but they must have dispersed along the way, as I only saw 12-15.

Whatever pulls your cord.
