3. It looks delicious, but I'm not sure I could bring myself to eat..
...one of the President's ears. Or eyes. Or his chin. Or any other bits of him.

11. I just LOVE baklava! (It's a "guilty pleasure.") Yum.
As dessert, after a falafel, it blesses my tummy.

.... negates a street full of protestors.

If THAT isn't love!!!! .... YUM!!!!

The only thing better, of course, was the giant Obama/Lincoln cupcake mosaic at the Smithsonian...

19. There was also a "Borek Obama" dish made as well...
Edited on Tue Apr-07-09 12:01 PM by cascadiance
Borek is a Turkish pastry made with filo dough like baklava, but not with honey and either filled with egg, spinach, cheese, or ground meat...

http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/world/la-fg-obama-turkey7-2009apr07,0,641778.story

...His stop in Turkey generated scattered protests, but also an air of excitement. Many cafes and shops had their TVs tuned to the speech, and Turks appeared as star-struck as some citizens of other countries on his current trip. One baker created a borek, a pastry, with Obama's image on it.

It might have looked something like this I guess...

A good explanation of borek and other Turkish dishes can be found here...

http://www.paulstravelblog.com/2008/11/food-in-turkey.html

And no this isn't the "Börek Obama Soundsystem". That's for a later trip to Norway I guess...

20. Now that reminds me of the Jesus grilled cheese sold on eBay.
Hmm, or was it the Virgin Mary? :P

I'm fortunate to have lived in the DC area with a number of excellent Turkish restaurants to choose from. I'm now in an area with (I think) two Turkish restaurants -- not nearly as good, but I'm happy to have them.

18. You beat me to it... Here's "They Might be Giants" version...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=roTE4htKJek

At least they weren't asking for impeachment of Obama. Here was my dream of how the Turks would have received Bush on a trip to Turkey...

Translations:

piç - pronounced "peach", means "bastard"..

im ... - means "sign of"

so, you might have these pronounced "Impeach! Impeach! Impeach!" Since each of these signs also are "bastard signs" either figuratively or literally!
