Media Matters Story Re Fox Promoting A Militant Right Wing
Edited on Wed Apr-08-09 05:29 PM by Median Democrat
Unfortunately, they play Fox News at my gym, and I get to see a bit of Fox News. It amazes me that they have moved far beyond mere bias. Now, Rupert Murdoch's little propaganda factory has transitioned into outright advocacy of an insurrection with daily hate mongers pushing hate and fear as noted in this report on media matters. Look at Fox News actively participation in the Tea Party protests.

My question is can it become even more extreme? Is there really any difference now between what goes on Fox News and the most extreme bile you read on Free Republic (save for the explicit threats on the President). It now seems like right wing media is now in a race to the bottom as they try to out crazy each other.

Is Fox merely trying to push the envelope to the right so that Reagan era conservatism becomes the new moderate center? Or, is Rupert Murdoch actually trying to promote violence, then blame the Obama administration for the resulting unrest? Of course, in the past, there mere criticism of Bush was enough to provoke the question, "why do you hate America?"

I guess Glenn Beck would respond that he really, really loves America. He just hates everyone in it.

Beck's sure "epression and revolution" are what await America under Obama, and fears moving "towards a totalitarian state." The country today sometimes reminds Beck of "the early days of Adolf Hitler." Beck thinks that Obama, who has "surrounded himself by Marxists his whole life," is now "addicting this country to heroin -- the heroin that is government slavery."

And it's not just Beck. Appearing on Fox News, Dick Morris recently made a wildly irresponsible comment that looks even worse in light of the Pittsburgh law-enforcement slayings: "Those crazies in Montana who say, 'We're going to kill ATF agents because the UN's going to take over' -- well, they're beginning to have a case."

And it's not just Fox News. Radio nut Michael Savage recently claimed that "we have a naked Marxist for president." And high-profile conservative blogger Erick Erickson contemplated the beating of politicians: "At what point do get off the couch, march down to their state legislator's house, pull him outside, and beat him to a bloody pulp for being an idiot?"

Of course, the right-wingers at Free Republic are way ahead of Erickson as they fantasize about Obama's assassination: "And let's face it: all the speculation about Obama being the actual Antichrist will either be confirmed or denied if someone gets off a lucky shot at the SOB."

2. Not a lawyer, but aren't political organizations required to register as such?
Foxnews has crossed the line from bias to outright political activism, which I think the FEC is supposed to track. Companies that advertise on legitimate media can deduct the cost as a business expense, but what about companies that advertise on a partisan infomercial? Shouldn't this be classified as a political, or lobbying expense?

4. The Sad Thing Is That There Is Sizable Portion Of The Population That Believes This Bullshit
There is absolutely no respect for the truth. It is just a continuation of the McCain campaign by News Corp, which amounts to a billion dollar in-kind contribution to the RNC.

3. You saw how well they accomplished their dominance of American politics.
They are as foolish and stupid as they are crazy.

No thinking person is going to take them serious. They are proving themselves to be the party of wing nuts only.

8. Not taking them seriously would be just as big a mistake as
not taking any other hate group seriously. There have already been several documented murders by people who are influenced by these hatemongers. Never underestimate or ignore your enemy.

5. What is the deal with gyms and Fox News? That is always on at my gym and I will change it if no
one seems to be watching it.

I don't want to get shot over a changed channel, so maybe I should start ignoring it.

6. Tell Me About It. Its ESPN, Fox News Or Some Reality Show
I am fine with ESPN to be honest, but Fox News and Reality TV just leaves me dumber for having looked up from my treadmill.

13. Two Right Wing Nuts Going On Shooting Sprees Who Are Inspired By Hate Radio
Of course, if it was gangmember shooting a police officer, the mainstream media would promptly find the Sista Soulja of the moment and blame them with Fox News leading charge.

14. I've already started thinking about it.
I've been physically threatened by local right-wing nuts, and I have started to think about taking some extra protective measures.
