So when does Obama re-do the bow?
like the first non-issue of his Presidency the oath shouldn't he have to re-do the whole meeting with the Saudi King?

Will he allow camera crews and not just still photographers so we don't have to hear THAT nonsense again too?

:eyes:

I am sure the night time Fox news personalities are all talking this up-it was on that network ALL DAY.

1. I'm sure he won't bow next time he meets the Saudi King.
That's an almost certainity.

2. The RWers have been talking about EVERYTHING Obama does...
the only mistake made was by Gibbs saying he didn't bow rather than just saying he did, it was done to be respectful, and move on to important things. But even Morning Joe was showing "the bow" all day. But nobody cares since the economy is so bad.

3. Is it correct protocol or not?
If it is, he should do it exactly the same way again, if the occasion arises. (Otherwise, it would be an indication that what he did before wasn't correct, or that he's bowing to the rightwing critics.)

5. Apparently not...
I heard that from everyone on cable news and if it was correct protocol I'm sure Gibbs would've admitted he DID bow.

7. No, it's not
The President bows to no man, certainly not a hereditary monarch of a country that doesn't guarantee even the most basic rights.

It was wrong and hopefully, it will never happen again. If it does, I will point out that it is inappropriate.

8. He should, he bowed wrong.
This has been odd. It looked so unlike a bow in the first pic and video I saw (the bended leg is not bow form at all) that I wondered if he was reaching, it was no respectful bow... Surely he'd know how to bow!
Then a picture that showed his left hand visible, so not a reach, but a completely different angle. I went and looked for the video that was from and watched that one several times.

It is even more no respectful bow. It is a bow and not disrespectful...just not anything formal, not with bow style and with a big smile...like a goofing around bow, a friendly gesture. Like if you were on friendly terms and joshing a little.

The king was holding his hand way out to Obama as he was seeing him approach and they did talk as equals, friendly. Had I been there watching it would have just amused me I think. The not amusing part is how it was taken and of course that's no surprise.
