CNN now promoting Teabagging parties as well!
Edited on Sun Apr-12-09 09:49 PM by FrenchieCat
Welcome CNN. Fox News has been waiting for you!

Right now!

Call them, and tell them they are fake, as they should quite well know that
Fox has been promoting and is participating in this bullshit. :eyes:

2. Media Barely Gave Primetime Coverage Of Obama Campaign Rallies Where Thousands Of People Attended
Focusing only on snippets of speeches, but they decide to pump up and promote the tea parties. They should just go on and handout corporate logos to the protesters like NASCAR.

6. I remember when they didn't even want to show the Portland photos!
These CNN folks are as hard right wing as Fox, just less obvious to those not paying attention.

3. The local news here did a promo for the tea party all week. They
say they had 150 people turn out. The pictures look like maybe 50. So I'm not surprised that they are pumping it up. Disgusting :puke:

5. I'm surprised, cause that is not the business that they are in.
Of course, I called CNN and left a message stating that the anchor knows darn well that this is a right wing astroturf movement that Fox and other large corporations has been promoting for the last two to three weeks. To have CNN give it a shout out, which is all that happened just now was disgusting.

7. It really is. The local news made mention of it over and over again
this past week. I don't read the newspaper here but I bet they even had a notice there. Ridiculous. CNN is shit.

9. Nope. It doesn't. Hilariously enough, this little RW exercise has brought the term "teabagging"
to the attention of people who were innocent of its meaning.

Like, my mom.
She asked me to please explain what "tea bagging" meant because she kept seeing jokes in reference to these tea parties.
I don't think my mom was ready to know.

I emailed this to her in case she was unclear on the concept:

I never really watched SatC, but that clip made my day! I totally look forward to watching all of the teabaggers breathe through their noses. It will be new to them as they usually only breathe through their mouths. Let the nutsack gargling begin!!!

10. Teabagging. LOL! These rightwing idiots and their teabagging will have
less impact in our total history than hula hoops.

By far.

Or, understand they are being played by the top 1% and their minions!

From Krugman's column today, 'Tea Parties Forever.'

'Last but not least: it turns out that the tea parties don’t represent a spontaneous outpouring of public sentiment. They’re AstroTurf (fake grass roots) events, manufactured by the usual suspects. In particular, a key role is being played by FreedomWorks, an organization run by Richard Armey, the former House majority leader, and supported by the usual group of right-wing billionaires. And the parties are, of course, being promoted heavily by Fox News.'

18. Compare this to the coverage of the MASSIVE anti-war protests in 2002
and you have a complete picture of the "liberal media"

19. Thanks, FC.
I was going to call anyway because of the crawlers that played all weekend on CNN. #1. Portuguese waterdog "Bo" joins the Obama family ----> followed immediately by #2. Gingrich says focus on Obama dog "fairly stupid."

Thanks for the numbers. I hadn't heard that CNN had jumped on the teabagging nonsense, so I added my 2-centsworth on that too.

Yikes.

20. How did they promote it? Are they sponsoring it like Faux news? Did they suggest people go?
OR are they just reporting on it. I suspect there will be a lot of media coverage on it from all sides. I'm not defending CNN cause I didn't watch what you watched, which is why I'm asking. No doubt CNN has taken a turn toward the negative coverage of Obama, mostly because i think they fear being lumped into the "liberal media who kiss Obama's ass" label. But for the most part I think they still do a somewhat fair job reporting.

If they were promoting it by suggesting people attend or playing up the Tea Bagging as the place to be, then yeah they should be called out, but your OP doesn't really explain what or how they reported on the tea parties.
