PRESIDENT OBAMA IS KICKING ASS! .... CHANGE WE CAN BELIEVE IN
Edited on Mon Apr-13-09 08:10 PM by President Decider
Folks, President O is kicking ass lately ....

I really need someone to provide a running list of all the "goodness" that's been going on the past few weeks that has undoubtedly been influenced in some way by our Commander in Chief.

- Calls out all major cable media for being the fradulent "entertainment provider" partisen hacks that they are.
- Passes 1st national security threat in flying colors. Authorized Seals to take care of the business.
- Very productive trip overseas at the G20 summit. Scored huge on the world stage by displaying the diplomacy and statesmanship of a veteran world leader. Making strides to bring dignity and integrity back to our country.
- Bulls have been running for the past 4 weeks now. Market showing positive gains.
- Banks now saying they're going to report a much better than expected 1st quarter earnings.
- Breaking diversity ground by being the 1st administration to conduct the White House Briefings in Spanish as well.
- Breaking a half centuryof U.S. policy by lifting restrictions on Cuban-Americans who want to travel and send money to their island homeland.

Look at this short list? I mean, these are things we as Americans should be damn proud of. I know I sure am. This is what America is all about. These are things that validate to me that our President is working hard to put us back on the right path.

Do you agree?

I need more. I need a comprehensive list of what this administration has done in the first 100 days to bring pride back to America. This has been no walk in the park for Obama. I can't remember a President that walked into such a shit-storm in all of my lifetime. I want to show every Republican that asks, "What is this change" bullshit hokey-pokey?" I want to throw this list up in their face and say, "This ... is change we can believe in"

What about the White House official "group" for Women and Girls?
I liked that, but please forgive me, I can't remember the Official name of it.
Hillary and Michelle Obama joined forces on that one I believe.

4. Thank you.
I needed to see this after the same person is posting yet another slam President Obama thread. It gets tiresome. It really does. That is why it's nice to see a positive thread. They're too few and far between these days.

6. Hellyeah
We are getting away from some of what we voted against and the prospects of getting what we voted for are looking good. Well some of each.

Anyway, it's good to have DU to keep informed on what's going down, eh? I'd hate this place if all we saw was your type of OPs and would hate it even worse if we never did.

A bunch of flim flammers who can value their bad assets at just about any price. These big banks are all insolvent, 10 times over. Only in the land of make believe are they profitable. They're putting lipstick on the pig.

23. It seems like very few DU men ever remember the huge milestones for Women
Hello? Women's human rights? Why are we so forgettable?

Ending the Global Gag Rule, which had been killing and maiming millions of women and children worldwide.

Signing the Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay act, so that women can have a shot at being paid fairly. When compared to men in equivalent positions, women lose millions of dollars over the course of their lives, including Social Security and any other benefits calculated as a percent of pay.

The Council on Women and Girls... read below what he had to say at the signing--Awesome. I don't think I've ever heard of any high officials, certainly not men speaking in a general public setting, address inequities affecting women.

Pres. Obama said, "when women still earn just 78 cents for every dollar men make, when one in four women still experiences domestic violence in their lifetimes, when women are more than half of our population but just 17% of our Congress," he said before signing the order. "When women are 49% of the workforce but only 3% of our fortune 500 CEOs, when these inequalities stubbornly persist in this country in this century then I think we need to ask ourselves some hard question and we need to take a hard look at where were falling short and who were leaving out and what that means for the prosperity and the vitality of our nation."

24. YOUTH JOB FAIR -my HR dept. emailed a flyer we were asked to post
It is about a job fair being held in Orange County, NC that will invite young people, aged 16 to 24, to come apply for summer jobs. Clerical, recreational aide, maintenance. Brought to you by the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act 2009. This is a VERY good thing. Orange county has a diverse population, much of it rural and under exposed to opportunity. I was thrilled to see this!

32. And all that "ass kicking" is undermined by his duplicity on torture
Edited on Wed Apr-15-09 08:36 PM by pat_k
Obama's refusal to demand the prosecution and punishment of government officials who proudly ordered Americans to torture is a violation of core and inviolable American principles. As long as he continues to protect the torturers from prosecution he makes himself an accomplice, and ensures that the USA remains a War Criminal Nation.

And pointing out this stark truth does not make one an "Obama-hater." Is it "tough love."

Those who commit crimes can't destroy us -- we designed our government to deal with criminals, however high their office. Only the corruption and dereliction of those we charge with enforcement can take us down. Bush and Cheney committed war crimes, but they didn't turn the USA into a War Criminal Nation. Pelosi and those who tolerated and tacitly endorsed torture by refusing to demand impeachment did that.

Right now, the battle for the soul of the nation is not between people who label themselves "liberal" or "conservative." It's between those who tolerate the harboring of torturers and those who refuse to; those who are willing to continue as a War Criminal Nation and those who are not; and those government officials who are acting in accord with their oath of office and those who aren't.

With our foundation in ruins, anything our so-called "progressive leaders" manage to build will be as lasting as a castle built on quicksand. There can be no real progress toward "a more perfect union" until we confront the truth, admit that the failure to impeach was monumental failure that can never be erased, and must never be repeated, and Finally Do what duty demands and prosecute Bush, Cheney, and their co-conspirators.
