3. Thanks, listened to both segments, k&r,
Fascinating, I need to listen to more Chomsky. He just turned 80, btw. Expressed that elections in the US are essentially the moneyed interests putting up cash to invest in the candidates that will best serve them. Noted that "Nobel prize winning economists" will not be invited to the table to discuss the economy, since he's (i.e., Krugman) a millimeter to the left of center.

Here's what he said near the end of the second clip (~min 45:30) when asked about Obama,
Frankly, I never had any expectations. I've written that he's essentially a centrist democrat -- (the) Bush admin was off the spectrum, especially the first term -- moving things back towards the center, as far as policy is concerned, which unless he's under a lot of pressure from activist sectors, he's not going to go beyond what he's presented himself as -- a centrist democrat, (and will) continue Bush's policies, maybe in a more modulated way.

Can't say I disagree, esp. when hearing about the continuation of Bush privacy & wiretapping initiatives.

Quite worth listening to, Chomsky's a national treasure.
