Be Honest. Obama has taken to the Presidency Like a Duck To Water
It's rare to see someone so well-suited to a particular job.

2. Pres. O. has only been in office 12 weeks, but I'd swear
that this man was BORN to be President.

To me, it seems as though he is the RIGHT man at the RIGHT time, after 8 years of W. idiocy.

He's definitely a bridge-builder, not a bridge burner.

I think Hillary would be good too, but I think he's doing well and has the right temperament for the job.

So'd Hillary.

6. I don't believe for a second that Kerry and Gore didn't want to be President
But they also didn't have 8 years of President Fuckup making the path any easier for them either. For Kerry, had Katrina/Bush's Response happened before the '04 election, we'd have been in his second term.

8. I think he was the victim of three things...
1. A corrupt voting system rigged so that he would lose, particularly in Ohio where they had the Chair of the Bush Campaign in Ohio as the Secretary of State in charge of the elections there.

2. A fairly new war that hadn't been completely proven to be a boondoggle yet and a compliant media still working on its behalf.

3. A lot of Democratic Insiders working on Hillary '08 and not wanting John Kerry to be elected. There is no bigger traitor than James Carville.

Since almost all of this has been documented pretty thoroughly on DU I find that statement to be a bit obtuse.

18. You don't need to slam Gore and Kerry just to praise Obama and Hillary
Obama is president.

Gore is a strong environmental activist.

Kerry is a strong senator with an independent voice.

Hillary is now Secretary of State.

In addition to Obama's political skills, because of them and what they went through, we have President Obama.

They are all working hard and we need to move on from who wanted more than who. That talk only helps the GOP.

Again, let's move on.

25. Yes he does
At least President Obama shows a lot of respect for his fellow dems than most here do.

Why people feel the need to dump on good people to praise our president is mind-boggling. Why did Gore and Kerry do to Obama and Hillary?

52. Nah. I think Rove really wanted GWB to be president. GWB just wanted to win;.
He's competitive and he'll do anything to win, even cheat. And that showed up in the presidential election.

I don't think he really wanted the work of being president, just the "adulation".

53. They all wanted it otherwise they wouldn't have gone through over a year of endless campaigning.
..but obviously not everyone can get it and very few are actually good at it.

Gore and Kerry wanted to be President. Maybe even more than Obama because they were expecting to be "next in line". They just weren't very good at campaigning.

9. Whether you agree with him or not, the man is definitely
capable.

On reflection, it's precisely because he's so capable that the right-wing is organizing so much hate.

Yesterday a caller on Hannity's radio show (yes I'm enjoying the shadenfreud) read a statement she had prepared about how Obama was destroying America and at the end her voice got shaky and she said, " Sean I just want to cry". And I yelled out, "please, please, cry for everybody, please let me hear you cry". LOL And I felt no guilt over wanting to hear their "pain".

11. "Like a duck to water"?
I'd prefer that the water that this duck inherited wasn't the polluted mess that his predecessor left. The fact that he's comfortable with it gives me some distress.

Habeas Corpus seems like a really good idea, until you're the one who must "produce the body".

Churchill could do the hard-hitting addage about as well as anybody.

But we Americans are learning. We're still young punks, really, but we're getting better. I think Al Gore and John Kerry deservd far better than they got.

But Dubya's out of the White House and we got us a real good man in there now, with a great First Lady, two up-and-comin' younguns, and a cute dog to boot.

Not bad for mid-April!

33. I'm a deep-boned pro-Labor voter and loved John Edwards, still do, and
don't hold his erotic extra-marital adventures against him.

We had 8 good folks running for office. I did prefer some over others but would have given heart and soul to whichever prevailed.

The stakes are always high and higher still after 8 years of lying and thievery by Bush / Cheney / Rice / et al.

When Obama destroyed HClinton in the Wisconsin primary, I knew it was over. Carter only barely defeated Mo Udall in Wisconsin in the 1976 primary and then went on to win the nom. Obama won in a landslide in Wisconsin.

I love seeing you on these boards, BlooInBloo.

You're continued silence on the actual issues speak volumes. Here's to more torture and ignored human rights! :sarcasm:

And to answer your question: He's been in office 4 days shy of 3 months, plenty of time to write up an executive order restoring the right of Habeas Corpus, it was after all a campaign promise.
