What is the best argument to use when I nicely confront the Tea Baggers at 5:00pm today?
I was going to point out that they (GOP) had control of the House, Senate and White House 6 of the last 8 years and they caused this mess. And that they are 'Born Again Deficit Haters' after Reagan and Bush. Any other ideas?

Bush authorized the first bailout last fall - why didn't they protest then?

10. Ask them why they are protesting Bush and the Republicans, but wearing Obama clothes.
Ask them if they know that the Republicans just voted against the largest tax break in history.

Ask them if they know that taxes haven't gone up in the past 16 years.

Ask them if they know that taxes now are lower than when Bush left office.

Ask them what they would do differently than Obama.

11. Ask them who is to pay the salary of the military
They are always big on the military. Make a poster showing the SEALS who rescued the sea captain and put below it "YOUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK". A bit militant for my tastes, but it should be right up their alley--and I'd love to see what they say about it.

13. 2009 Taxes aren't due yet...
People are mailing off Bush's 2008 taxes today. Obama taxes aren't due until next year, and we don't know how much they'll be yet, so cool your heels.

12. Ask them if they really thought out what they were complaining
about. Maybe point out that the taxes pay for services that would have to be privatized if not paid for with taxes and then they would be paying more bills and higher bills for the same (or lesser)services. And what about the roads and streets...would everyone be held responsible for the street in front of their homes? or would the streets be "owned" by a corporation that we would have to pay tolls to? and then which streets would be tolled? every time we turn a corner do we then have to pay a new toll? Tell them to really think it through, that they are being short sighted (myopic).

16. Does it bother them that many big corporations don't pay taxes?
Do they know that the Boston tea party was a revolt against corporate greed:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/thom-hartmann/the-real-boston-tea-party_b_187189.html

Does it bother them that 100 billion dollars a year in taxes is lost to off-shore tax havens?

24. "at least THIS president hasn't relegated you to "free speech cages"
Maybe I'd ask them where they were while this country was being led into the debts we face? Or when our constitution was being shredded? Or as we were told to 'just go shopping?'

Or why it is that "money" is such a great motivator for so many "patriots"?

My ancestors were part of the american revolution. They didn't like the tarriffs and taxes imposed on them by England- but that was only a small part of what led up to the revolution. To those who equate our financial crisis with the situation in 1770's maybe they need to learn some history- and do some soul searching.

The taxes going to the Water Department help pay for clean water... otherwise they would have a nice big shit stain on their fat ass pants.

Then ask them if they drove on roads built by our socialist policies.

Then ask them if they would be glad to give up their Social Security check.

Then ask them what they would do if their house was burning down and the socialist policies that pay for a fire department weren't there.

Then ask them what they would do if they were robbed or raped and the socialist policies that pay for a police department weren't there.

Then ask them what they would do about praising the military when the socialist policies that pay for a military weren't there.

Then just give them the finger. You don't have to mention about public schools or the public library. They obviously have no familiarity with those institutions.
