"April 16 (Bloomberg) -- Ha! Ha! Ha! You gotta read this. Republicans claim laws to protect against vote fraud aren’t fair. Or, more specifically, they’re trying to get around them.

That’s right. REPUBLICANS! Pretty rich, eh? They’re the same folks who are always carping about keeping the unwashed and unregistered away from the voting booth (at least in Democratic neighborhoods) with all sorts of anti-fraud voting laws.

But that was before Republican Senator Norm Coleman of Minnesota found himself flailing to hold on to his job. He is up against Democrat Al Franken, a comic best known to longtime viewers of “Saturday Night Live.”

Franken’s a hoot, but Coleman turns out to be the funny man in the race.

Get this: He wanted state judges to order officials to count absentee ballots cast by unregistered voters. Do you believe it? Oh, man. My sides hurt from laughing at that one. . . . "

1. Did you know it was Coleman who also lost to Jesse Ventura?
I didn't realize that until it was mentioned on the radio the other day. It's no wonder Norm is pissed! Losing to a wrestler and then a comedian can't be much of an ego booster!!

3. That state really has a lot of Comedians, Norm and Al, but
one of them made a living being a comic, the other just can't help himself from being totally hilarious, when he wants us to keep paying him a salary.

4. Not mentioned is that Coleman intially fought to count none of the absentee ballots
Right after the election Coleman argued that none of the rejected absentee ballots should be reviewed. Al Franken argued that about 1200 AB's had been improperly rejected. Coleman tried to stop counting any of them. Franken went to the MN Supreme court and got a ruling that allowed around 900 to be counted. Franken padded his lead from 49 to 225 with those votes. Then at the election contest trial another 351 ballots were identified that should have been counted. When they were counted Franken's lead went to 312. So the original number that Franken identified as wrongfully rejected turned out to be almost exactly correct. Now Coleman is desperate and wants to keep counting ANYTHING until he can get ahead. I wish Coleman would just go away. It is too late to go away gracefully. His appeal should be quickly denied.

The MN Supreme Court has already ruled on the absentee ballots. The Canvassing Board and the Contest Court followed those rules. Coleman has no grounds for appeal.
