Praise for President Obama
I'm very pleased with Obama's centrist leadership. He successfully moved from the far-left after making a name for himself and confirmed it after the election with his appointments (I especially like SecOfState). His rapport with the DLC has been excellent. His commitment to fighting al-Qaeda and the Taliban in Afghanistan is commendable. I didn't like him at first, but things couldn't have turned out better!

5. Fuck the DLC
And fuck the lies about Afghanistan. There is no compelling reason to continue that occupation, OR the occupation of Iraq.

President George Washington warned us about foreign entanglements. President Eisenhower warned us against the deception of the "defense" industry. Both of these men were Generals, not exactly peace loving hippy war protestors. It's time we took their warnings seriously.

7. I agree about Iraq, and Obama is getting us out as he said he would,
but Afghanistan is another matter. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that al-Qaeda will have training bases there again if we leave.

9. Obama's rapport has been with the American people.....
Edited on Fri Apr-17-09 04:35 PM by FrenchieCat
and with any and all other parties involved.
He ran to become the President of the United States,
not the head of the DNC, DLC, the Socialist party,
or any other specific organization.

He stated clearly that he would be the President of all of the United States,
and I supposed that would include the DLC.

But what Barack Obama didn't run as was an ideologue,
something he never claimed to be.

So yes, those who thought they were electing a young tall tan Dennis Kucinich were fooling themselves,

and considering, President Obama has stuck close to what he stated in his campaign rethoric.

Perhaps you should ask yourself why you didn't bother to listen throughout the long election process,
for you have not liked him in the first place.

Perhaps some would have prefered Hedge Fund Johnny the Adulterer as a better fit with their values and hopes and dreams as to what real leadership for the American people means. Others liked Hillary Clinton best. The point is those folks lost, and Barack Obama won. After that the choice was between Obama and McCain. I will state without a doubt that Barack Obama is way to the left of John McCain.

15. Don't fool yourself.
He did start out with the "Dennis Kucinich" crowd spouting their rhetoric. But that's OK. I got to see the real Obama after the primary and I liked him better than Hillary. You're right that he represents "the American People." That means that he represents middle-America, as he should. That's the most important thing. He's a centrist.

19. You insist on labels for him, not I.
So go ahead and have your opinion,
and play the old game.

He is (fill in your blank here)

That is your interpretation only.
And you have that right, but doesn't make it
an undisputable fact.

14. Regarding Afghanistan......
He's doing exactly what he said he would do during the campaign. He said he would increase US presence in Afghanistan and that's indeed what he's doing.

Some people apparently didn't even listen to what Obama was saying.
