On the stage was a Catholic religious symbol with the letters IHS and a cross, which FOX NEWS states represents the name Jesus Christ. The stage was covered to allow the Government staffers to place flags and simple curtains behind the President so as not to distract from his speech.

First, as all us old catholic school kids know, IHS is Latin for In Hoc Signes, or In This Sign, the sign being the cross. Has nothing to do with the name "Jesus Christ". It is featured on many catholic priest's vestments used in saying mass - my sister and I used to say it meant " I Hate School."

So, once again Obams's true nature as a Muslin Satin Worshiper Communist Socialist liburl is revealed.

The wingers are interested and very concerned by symbolism and truly fear that our President might talk to leaders they do not approve of.

The point lost on the entire right wing is that the people of other countries have their own interests and that these interests may be different than ours. Occasionally they will elect leaders and adopt policies that we do not care for and this fact alone is not a cause for war or even diplomatic conflict. They are "sovereign nations" and get to run themselves as they choose. They do not require our approval to do so.

It is good for our President to work to create peaceful and productive relations with as many of them as he can. Handshakes and modest deference to Monarchs when in their countries are part of this. Acting like a dick and being dismissive of foriegn leaders, as Bush did, may give one a false notion of symbolic superiority, but ultimately, screws the country.

Chavez, like him or not, is the freely elected leader of a sovereign nation. Same goes for Morales and Ortega. My guess is that if free and fair elections were held in Cuba, the same would go for Castro. Not meeting with and refusing to talk to these folks is simply stupid, which is why the wingers are so in love with the idea.

I remember the powerlessness I felt when I REALIZED that Al Gore was not going to fight Bush hard enough to win the vote in Florida. Fox News declared and the rest of the MSM followed behind Bush's cousin's declaration. I waited all night to hear how it would be resolved but when I heard that murky outcome I knew we were in for a political backlash.

I know how desperate I became over this last election. It felt like 2 elections had been stolen away from the American people. I was afraid Bush would find a reason to remain in office even if the Constitution and everyone else believed it was time to step down. My paranoia and fear knew no bounds when I thought through all the craziness of the last 8 years.

I sighed with relief when Obama actually swore his oath and Bush left DC. When I read these Freepers fear and paranoia I believe they are cursed with the same unbelief I had and hold for Bush's administration.
