Daily Howler attacks Janeane Garofalo
In his ongoing jihad against anyone on the left who did not support Hillary Clinton last year, Bob Somerby of The Daily Howler (http://www.dailyhowler.com/) is now going after Janeane Garofalo for her appearance on Countdown the other night. In addition to his continuing vendetta against Keith Olberman and Rachel Maddow, he's begun trashing David Schuster as well while turning a blind eye to the antics of Rush, Hannity, Beck and Scarborough. With "liberal" media watchdogs like this who needs Brent Bozell.

2. "Daily Howler" is an appropriate name
If this guy's a liberal, somebody better tell him that he's sounding an awful lot like the people over at Fox Noise.

7. Somerby never had any to begin with.
Just call him another alleged "librul" blogger who spends all his time cutting down the liberals of the MSM because he's not PART of the MSM.

Bob thinks that just because he used to be college roomies with Al Gore and Tommy Lee Jones, he should Be Somebody like they are. He's not, so all he does is whine, carp and bitch about the "uselessness" of anyone in the liberal media who makes more money and gets more exposure than he does. None of them could POSSIBLY be as good as HE is...Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

14. Thank you for pointing out the roommate connection. It's a piece of info I didn't know about this
guy and reinforces what I've thought of his "Howling" up to now: an attention-seeking stunt.

Poor widdle guy....no one cares what he has to say. So, drum up some controversy and maybe you'll get interviewed on the teevees.

What a loser.

4. Janeane
Her appearance this week on Keith was very strong. It also seemed like she was fanning the fires for more Janeane bashing by extremest conservatives. It was like baiting.

Good points, though. The Teabagging movement is all about racism and these certain people just can't stand having a black President.

Given the rising threats of violence and Civil war coming from the right, this is an act of courage on Janeane's part.

I do not think my courageousness measures up to Janeane's!

5. FOX just called it a "shameful rant".

:eyes:

Then one of the bozos took offense at the fact that she said they were filled with racists: "There was NOTHING racist about these tea parties!"

I guess he didn't notice any of the signs...

6. Sommerby is a nutjob!
I used to read his blog frequently until he began attacking Joe Wilson. Sommerby's choice of targets for scorn is bizarre. The Dialy Howler has become nothing more than musings of an irrelevant, unfunny fact checker posing as a blogger of substance.

8. And the bizarre thing is, he is allegedly a standup comic, too.
Edited on Sat Apr-18-09 09:12 AM by Berry Cool
Yet I can think of nothing more bitter and vitriol-laced than his rants.

His blog should be called The Daily Whiner.

On edit: Hmm...You don't think he unleashed an especially heavy amount of nastiness on Janeane because SHE's actually considered a comic...naah...

10. He use to have a lot of links and facts to back up what
he was stating on his blog. What's interesting in his recent rants on Olbermann, Maddow and Schuster is that there are now very few links. His problem with them is more style over substance.

11. Started reading the title without my specs and thought it said
Daily Howler attacks "Japanese Giraffes," which kind of impressed me, since I didn't think they even HAD giraffes in Japan.

15. I think you should have provided specifics
So that we know what Garofalo said and whether it is true or makes sense.

you could read what he wrote and you'd see that he didn't refute what she said. It was just an ad hominem attack on her.

18. I agree with the poster. Why drive up traffic to a site before you get a
sampling of what's being debated? Some people prefer not to click on links of sites they've never visited before, a few snippets would be nice.

19. Well,,,
cutting and pasting what someone else wrote in another forum without their permission is a form of copyright infringement. Taking a few snippets out of context would also be unfair. Better that someone read the whole thing directly from the source and be able to make their own judgement on it.
