Feingold Wants Policymakers Prosecuted

From an interview with the editorial board of the Manitowoc Herald Times Reporter in Manitowoc, WI, Sen. Russ Feingold:

"I understand that the president believes that the people who actually administered these tactics should be immune. I'm not sure about that. I understand that they have a greater argument than those who created the policies. But those who created these legal theories, knowing full well that there was not a reasonable argument, I'm not so sure they shouldn't be accountable. I don't see how we as a country say oh fine we knew this was against international law, we knew it was against our own laws, and these people can come up with any phony legal opinion they want. I've read these opinions because I'm on the intelligence committee and had access to them much earlier than the public. These arguments are bogus.."

3. Want to make sure this doesn't repeat the prosecute Rummy, Darth, Dubbya, Yoo, Gonzo, and company
you want to melt completely down into a Banana Republic or even more likely train wreck all leftward agenda for another generation or two then go after operatives.

Fixing the problem trumps even justice. Going after the ringleaders is the medicine for what ails us.
We take down the cabal then we win, not just now but for probably generations to come. If we screw this up as many insist then we'll be right back here again with the foxes running the henhouse, again.

4. My understanding is that
the WH is reluctant to go after anything issue related to the Bush era (esp. the top dogs).

Without a push or nod from the WH, my fear is that congress will just let it die (after a few weeks of pretzel logic and condemnation photo ops).

5. it's supposed to be the other way around
this ain't a monarchy, it's a DEMOCRACY. The executive balances out the legislative, and vice versa. They BOTH can get involved, but legislative moreso.

9. but congress
wants (needs) the 'nod" from the executive brand to feel comfortable enough to go ahead. I do not think they have this (yet?). Will they get it is the question.

The Dem congress does not want to feel like they are bucking a very popular president (and he is)--as that will just be political hay for the Republicans.

7. Like Watergate, an investigation would have to be bi-partisan for Prez' policy agenda to survive.

8. Stop using your brain
We must arrest and dissolve the entire US intelligence community, prosecute every republican that served under bush. That way we enjoy 30 years of limbaugh-esque presidencies, but we will have justice!(until they all get pardoned and put back in power)
