Chavez playing U.S. Media like a violin! Betting on them to dog out Obama for accepting the Book!
Edited on Sat Apr-18-09 09:23 PM by FrenchieCat
Hugo Chavez isn't stupid. He is using the Corporate media to go after President Obama for accepting the book that he gave him. Now, watch our media play footsies with Chavez against our President, as soon as he returns home.

Chavez is leading the media by the nostrils. They will, of course take the bait. Even Hugo Chavez can set his watch by the stupidity of the American Corporate media.

1. A book on history
and economic realities from a different point of view, is not a bad thing to read.

Even if you disagree with everything in the book, if you believed it was all wrong.

You would still accept it and read it.

Know your enemy.

And if some of it was actually correct, then

Know yourself.

8. (bowing solemnly)
Extremely well said. It also means that Chavez gave it to him because he really does want to talk.

A lot of people don't realize that a lot of "leaders" around the world, whether good guy or bad, all have their hot seats and are also looking for a way out of the rut. Obama offers that hope to them just like some people here are experiencing hope instead of cynicism. Some times you can get the same deal or better from a guy if you just show respect to him, rather than having your foot up his ass. Blustering and posturing has gotten a lot of people in trouble. If they all confess to each other and agree to try a new day, it benefits everybody.

12. Thanks for the comment
but I do not understand the bowing part. If it was meant towards me, don't do it, I am not worthy of it, no person is. If I misunderstood your meaning sorry for the wrong interpretation.

If it was just kindness, :loveya: shared with you :)

If it was respect I worry about that, if someone respects me, they might think something is correct just because I say it, I make lots of mistakes, so that could be a bad thing.

7. Seriously
If Obama doesn't throw the book at Chavez's face, then Obama hates America.

5. "Open Veins of Latin America ---Five Centuries of the Pillage of a continent"
When I first saw mention of a book presented to O'Bama by Chavez, I immediately KNEW the title even before reading further. I heartily recommend it to all here: http://www.amazon.com/Open-Veins-Latin-America-Centuries/dp/0853459916/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1240106131&sr=1-1

6. Obama didn't have a choice on the book.

But he did have a choice in approaching Chavez. That's where any criticism should lay. (and I think there should be none)

10. Exactly right Frenchie.
Part of the reason I still read the bigots at NoQuarter is to watch the way Rethugs will jump and they were already playing on the acceptance of the book. What was he supposed to do? Read it upside down? Massage the shoulders of the President of Mexico?

So far the right have nothing. What matters to people is paying for food, healthcare, their homes and jobs. The rest is just tosh.

11. Right you are.
The media is like a big child. It is easy to know how it will react. That's not a good thing for them, but it is the truth.

15. Seriously what is the matter with you?
You are blind and one of the most B/W thinkers ar DU.

What if Cuba and Venezuela became our good friends and allies like Canada?

You realize that we have much more in common with both nations than Russia or China or Iran or whatever.

The GWB administration tried to take out Chavez 3 times (coup, oil strike, and recall election); Chavez is far from perfect but his leadership of his nation has more legitimacy than GWB ever had and as much as Obama.

There has been 500 years of terror against the native peoples of the western hemisphere. Genocide occurred in North America but was not completed farther south.

The tide has turned in South/Latin America.

Obama is the most inspirational POTUS in my lifetime and I am a child of adult age in the late 60s.

South/Latin America is a ready friendship and allies if we accept this and Obama seems incrementally prepared if we give support.

Most of these nations are more democratic and liberal than the current USA but are at just a beginning.

I smiled and had tears over Jakeens (sp) picture OPs.

16. I welcome any friendly relations we can have
with all countries of SA/Latin America. Its past time to bury hatchets. The continued snarks and demonization of Chevez is childish at best.
