Clinton: Interrogation Officials Should Be Reviewed
Edited on Wed Apr-22-09 10:15 AM by Thrill
Testifying before the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Bush administration officials who formulated interrogation policy "should be reviewed."

"Those that formulated those legal opinions and gave those orders should be reviewed," Clinton said. She added that those who carried out orders and "acted within the four corners of the legal advice that was given" would not be prosecuted. She added that a "nonpartisan" commission might be appropriate.

Rep. Dana Rohrbacher (R-Calif.) asked Clinton whether she supported releasing more classified memos–as suggested by Dick Cheney–including those that might show the success of harsh interrogation tactics.

"I don't consider (Cheney) a particularly reliable source of information," Clinton shot back, drawing laughter.

Pressed by Rohrbacher, Clinton said she would support whatever decision "the Obama administration" makes, but would not reveal what her suggestion would be.

"I am not going to share that with you because I do not know any facts that support what you're describing," Clinton said.

4. she and Bill thought Bush and Cheney were reliable enough to support their Iraq decisions
until Lieberman lost his primary race in 2006 and she was readying her own primary race for the presidency. All of a sudden, both Clintons found time to criticize Iraq decisions. Gee......what changed?

9. Back to that old nut, are we?
Hillary voted the way she thought was best for her country and state at the time. Bush and Cheney's actions proved to be reprehensible. Force was to be used as a last resort, not 5 months after the IWR was signed.

17. Yeah - that's why she stood with Kerry as he said Bush had no reason to invade - oops, no she didn't

She and Bill sided with Bush, supported and Bill vigorously DEFENDED Bush publically throughout 2004..... and they both STAYED SIDED with Bush until Lieberman lost his primary race.

Why do you pretend otherwise?

2. I've always known she has brains a'bundle
but goddam! those where sharp and witty answers.

Like V.P said, Hillary and Obama are two of a kind and majority have no
idea what goes on between those two.

You just watch them from the sidelines....

:wow:

3. Some testimony. So much grandstanding going on that she gets very few
opportunities to speak at length... if at all. Jeez I wish they'd get off their soapboxes and just ask the questions.

18. So all the private contractors who tortured get away with it. Lyndie England should get pardoned.
What hypocrisy. I feel bad for the way they scapegoated a few grunts, throwing them in the brig.
